10 Laundry Tips To Make Your Life Easier

2015-06-05 13.44.06

I'm on vacation right now (shhhh, everybody is sleeping and I'm writing this post – that does' count as working on vacation right?), and I may have cheated and just bought everybody new socks and new underwear, so I didn't have to make sure I had all theirs washed. However, you don't have to be me. Instead, be better than me and use some of these laundry hacks in your life.

  1. Method_Detergent_031315_Fresh_Clover_128xUse method (especially the NEW 4x concentrated) laundry detergent that is naturally derived cleaning power that is tough on dirt and stains. It keeps colors bright + whites white and works great in cold water so you use less energy for every load! The formula is both biodegradable and hypoallergenic and can also be used as a really effective pre-treat for stains. (I have an awesome coupon for you if you wan try this tip! Use the code THREEFORME for $3 (aff) off your online purchase!)
  2. Don't use dryer sheets and your towels will last longer and be more absorbent! (Plus, you do help save the environment too)
  3. Remember to sort your colors and your whites. Otherwise, your whites will turn a dingy grey.
  4. Accidentally shrunk something? Put the clothing in lukewarm water and baby shampoo. You need to make sure you cover the entire piece of fabric and gently stretch.
  5. Ever try drying your sneakers and thought you were going to go insane from the banging? Make sure you place the ends of your laces outside the dryer when you close the door (up top). No more banging and you have dry shoes!
  6. Like to air dry but you need your shirt right now? Go into your kitchen and use a salad spinner.
  7. Want your dark jeans to not fade? Wash them inside out!
  8. Scaled_18Just buy ASOS clothes. With easy-to-clean pieces, the collection is all about uniting functional fashion with gentle clothing care for long-lasting wear! No need to worry about dry cleaning these amazing clothes!
  9. Forget to take your clothes out of the dryer and they are all wrinkled now? Throw in a wet washcloth and redry the load. All the wrinkles will be gone!
  10. If you have somebody helping with laundry (in my house that would be my hubby), you can use a dry erase marker and note on the top of the dryer which clothes shouldn’t go in the dryer. No more excuses for why your favorite sweater is in there!

Are dryer balls ok? I don’t know if I can do without dryer sheets because I don’t like my clothes sticking together.

  3. I always use white vinegar in my laundry. It helps to whiten clothes that cannot be bleached, softens clothes, and helps to remove smells. Thanks for sharing this.

  4. I have a great hack that works well for me. I have separate bins for whites, darks, and colors. It’s a great way to keep it all separated.

Not sure I have any hacks but I finally got the whole separating the darks from lights routine down! lol But in all seriousness this looks like a great product, I have a problem with my colors fading due to needing to wash the clothes so often cause of the kids, I would love from them to last a little longer than they are lasting now lol.

As a SAHM I do 3 loads of laundry per day, 6 days a week. I have never tried Method detergent because I have laundry stockpile that has never depleted. I will admit the natural cleaner has caught my eye once or twice. Maybe I’ll give it a try when I see it on sale.

  18. I plan on using a few of the tips that you mentioned. I’m thinking about getting some of those wool dryer balls so that I can skip om softner.

I have not heard of Method laundry soap before but it sounds like something I will be trying for sure. These are totally amazing tips for the laundry. The one I know I have to try is the shoe drying one. I can’t stand the banging. Thanks so much for sharing.

  33. Gabriel

The shrunken clothes trick is new to me – I’ve got a bunch of shirts I’m trying that on. I also should sort better, a couple of years in the Army wearing all green and brown has me in the habit of just piling it all in together.

  34. Erinn S

I always use dryer sheets-I will have to remember that with towels

  35. Yona Williams

I’ve been washing my ‘good jeans’ inside out for the longest time – before I knew that…I would get streaks in the front of dark colored jeans. I received a coupon card with scratch and sniff swabs for Method products – and a few of them smell really, really, really good!

  36. Melanie

Great tips! I love Method products. Products that work at a great price. Can’t beat that!

  37. I know we don’t have Method here but I would love to try it. Thanks for sharing that neat trick over shrunken clothing.

  38. Letty C.

I am familiar with most of this tips, but the one that was new to me was the shrinking clothing. I will have to give that a try.
