Auto Insurance

Bill and I are still trying to figure out where to use the plane tickets we got from the Rachael Ray show. Mexico is on our list of places to visit. I recently learned something interesting about Mexican auto insurance. Did you know that Mexico will not recognize any other country’s auto insurance as valid? That is very good information to know if you plan on driving in a foreign country. I will be honest; this was something I never even thought of. However, this is very important. I really do not want to be a foreign country and getting in trouble there for anything.
Here’s another interesting tidbit of information. Here in the United States, you are innocent until proven guilty. However, in Mexico, the exact opposite is in play. You are assumed guilty. Therefore, if you get in an accident, you need to either have Mexican auto insurance or cash on hand to pay for the damages. If you have neither, they can throw you in jail!!! This is pretty scary stuff if you ask me.
If we decide to go to Mexico and drive while we are there, I am pretty sure we are going to get our hands on some Mexican auto insurance. Why be sorry? It is not like you try to get into a car accident. Things happen and I like the United States too much to be stuck in Mexico.

Are you going to PostiCon?
No. Are you?
I can’t justify the expense. We could use our free tickets and go but I think the hubby and I need a vacation together more. When we flew to New York for the Rachel Ray show, I realized how long it has been since we had spent any time alone together. With another kid in the mix, I really think we need to get away together. I am thinking someplace warm in January or February.
It is scary to think of going to jail in another country. However I live in Texas and it seems like you can buy Mexican Auto Insurance on every other street corner. So if you guys choose to go there it shouldn’t be that hard to find some insurance for you to drive.
