Telemarketing

When I was pregnant with Madison, I was a telemarketer. It is a thankless job, but it paid the bills. However, I did learn many things while working for this magazine seller. Most telemarketing companies have automatically dialers. I did not get a call until someone picked up and answered. The computer would then tell me their name. I often wondered how they found these people. What I learned was that telemarketing companies are able to buy telemarketing lists. They do not just randomly pick people. For example, I know one list that was bought was for people who recently signed up for phone service.

Yep that is true, I work for a credit card company currently and you can’t believe peoples shock when they ask how we got their names and addresses for the mailing list. That the good old credit bureaus sell them to all these companies as well.
I think people just don’t think about it. And not all telemarketing is bad. I recently got a call from the company we refinanced our mortgage through for a credit card. It ended up being a better deal than the one we have.
