The only problem I have is, I can't stand the icing they use on those cakes. I had fun doing it, and the actual parties were not as busy as they became once the kids were in school. Suddenly, making the cake was more of a time luxury I couldn't afford for all the other planning going on. But truthfully, I look back at the photo albums and I love seeing my homemade cakes in the photos. And my kids marvel at them, as though they can't believe I a) am that creative and b) I went to all that effort just for a cake (but of course, for them)! So, if you have the time, and enjoy it, I say, homemade is the way to go. Ice Cream Cake is second, and a wonderful confection at the bakery a very close third!
