Boating safety

You know it is that time of the year. After Memorial Day, it seems like all the boats come out. However, there are several tips you really need to think about when you are boating. First, always make sure you have life jackets aboard and that everyone is wearing them. Second, make sure somebody knows where you are. Third, alcohol and boating do not mix. You always see people boating and drinking, and I always feel the need the smack them alongside the head. Do they not realize that drinking while boating is pretty much drinking and driving. It actually has a name — Boating Operating Under the Influence. You would be amazed at how many people don’t realize that (I think they need some Boating Education). Being from Wisconsin where there is no much to do besides drink and watch football, I see this activity occurring more than I like, but this happens everywhere. I know that the Arizona Boating community has this same issue too. It just floors me that nowadays with all the access to information we have (heck, you can get Boating Education Online now), people still are so clueless. Here are a couple of videos you should definitely watch before you go boating this year:
Have a safe summer!

People think that just because it isn’t a car it means they can drink in it. It’s still a vehicle, and in many cases it is more dangerous than a car. Some people just don’t think.
