Will’s First Birthday

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Will’s first birthday is coming up next Saturday. I know, it is hard to believe that he is going to be one already! Time sure flies fast. With everything that is going on with the basement, it has been a zoo at my house. The thing Bill and I are struggling with (besides whether the basement is going to get done in time) is what do we get Will for his birthday. Madison thinks we should get him this Lagoon Pool that I posted a picture of. I think he is a tad too young even though it’s on sale (though I am sure she wouldn’t mind having it). Most of the big stuff we already own, so we are seriously at a loss on what to get him. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, so please let me know any ideas you guys may have! We already own a swing set, an easel, a basketball hoop, a house, a sandbox, toyboxes, at least 100 books, riding toys, and blocks. I bought some sand toys for Madison to give him, but that is it. Can you see why this is an issue? I only have a week to figure something out! Help!

The Basement Remodel: 2 days left

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Everything is coming together quite nicely.  I think they are finally done mudding the walls.  After I took these pictures yesterday, they started the floor.  One of the guys is outside right now painting all the doors too.  I’m not sure if they will really be done tomorrow or not (which makes me a tad nervous).

Self Publish?

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

All you bloggers out there — I know you’ve thought about it. A lot of us are aspiring writers and would love to see our work in print. There is one blog I read (and for the life of me I can’t remember the name) that all the posts are chapters of a fictional story. I also know that it is my sister’s dream to write a book. I don’t know if her plans included any Self Publishing, but if that helps get it out there, why not?

I love that there are companies out there that will help you fulfill your dreams. Wordclay is one of the easiest ones out there to use. They have a step by step guide to help direct you through the process. They also have a ton of ways for you to customize your book and make it your own. This isn’t a cookie cutter process. If you ever look at publishing, this is a place you should start at.

Summer Allergies

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Ick.  This year they started early, and I am miserable.  Between the throbbing head, runny nose, and sore throat, I think I am going to go insane.  What makes it worse is the construction going on in my basement.  I don’t ever remember having my allergies kick in this early though.  I am hoping to run to the grocery store later today (like when Bill gets home) and see what I can find.  I know Clariton works pretty good.  Any suggestions on what I should try?

Getting Dressed All By Myself

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

As you can see, Madison got herself dressed this morning. Now, I had picked her out some matching clothes and put them on her bed. Why she didn’t put them on, I’ll never know. However, she must have her daddy’s fashion sense if she thinks yellow and purple match. LOL
