Talking Turkey & Help Me Please

I wish I had some great Thanksgiving stories.  However, we normally end up going to somebody elses house for Thanksgiving, so I dont’ have to cook.  Ever.  Honestly, it is nice.  However, this year my parents are coming here for Thanksgiving, so I have to cook my own dinner (with some help from my mom I hope!  Though she won’t be coming up till Thanksgiving day itself, so I may not have as much help as I’d like! They are coming here so I have some company doing some Black Friday shopping (though my mom is refusing to go stand outside at Best Buy at 3 am.  Yes, I am that dedicated.  LOL)

I have a feeling this Thanksgiving I will have a ton of material to post about regarding my experience.  I don’t think Bill and I have ever made a real turkey by ourselves.  That is why its nice to know that Butterball has a Turkey Talk-Line.  You can call 1-800-BUTTERBALL  and talk to their meal preparation experts (writing that phone number down myself), or you can visit for Web chats with a few bloggers – Chris Jordan (Notes from the Trenches), Susan Wagner (Friday Playdate), and Roxanna (Miguelina) on November 11, 18 and 25 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CST.  They will answer all your turkey related questions. Now, if any of you have any advice for me, I’ll gladly take it.  We just won’t tell anyone.  :)

  1. Talking about turkey, my parents planned to raise one last year so that we won't be rushing off to buy one the day before Thanksgiving this year. Hope the turkey they raise now will still be sweet as of our yearly ones.

  2. Thanksgiving dinner is a big deal in my house. We combine my son's birthday with our Thanksgiving celebration and have the entire family together. Considering how the family is growing, it's a good thing we are building the addition.

Some homes have enough table space for the holiday guests… not me… tables get pulled from every where to have a large enough dinning room table and side tables for all the food. Most of the tables are odd sized (or pieces of plywood on top of TV tables) so there is no way a purchased tablecloth is going to fit correctly. I bought beautiful fabric on clearance last year… all I have to do it find it now. I want to make solid and print table clothes that I can layer to mask my make shift tables and have the dinning area look pretty.

  3. Excellent blog ! All mums are expected to multi task , but theres times when it just becomes too much !! I often feel like a headless turkey rushing round without an aim trying to remeber the million and one things that I have to do :)

  4. Start planning the menu ahead and buy the stuff/ingredients you need one to two days in advance. You can definitely save in time and effort if all the necessary ingredients are complete and ready to use. If you want your mom to help you in cooking, be sure that you prepared/sliced the needed stuffs just like in cooking show so that she will not become very tired :)

EZ Tofu Press Giveaway!

Calling all my tofu fans!  Firm and extra firm tofu is packed in water to keep it fresh. However, if you don’t remove the water, your tofu can be pretty plain.  By removing this water, the tofu can absorb the flavors of spices, marinade, or other foods. Tofu is often called a wonder food because […]
