Start planning the menu ahead and buy the stuff/ingredients you need one to two days in advance. You can definitely save in time and effort if all the necessary ingredients are complete and ready to use. If you want your mom to help you in cooking, be sure that you prepared/sliced the needed stuffs just like in cooking show so that she will not become very tired :)

Thanksgiving dinner is a big deal in my house. We combine my son's birthday with our Thanksgiving celebration and have the entire family together. Considering how the family is growing, it's a good thing we are building the addition.

Some homes have enough table space for the holiday guests... not me... tables get pulled from every where to have a large enough dinning room table and side tables for all the food. Most of the tables are odd sized (or pieces of plywood on top of TV tables) so there is no way a purchased tablecloth is going to fit correctly. I bought beautiful fabric on clearance last year... all I have to do it find it now. I want to make solid and print table clothes that I can layer to mask my make shift tables and have the dinning area look pretty.
