Granting Wishes at Sears

Posted on December 16, 2008

TThis post is sponsored, but the ideas, thoughts and ramblings are my own.

Since having kids, I turned into a big softie.   Yes, I’ll actually admit it.  I cry at things I never would have before, and I think about things that never would have crossed my mind before having kids.  I’ll be honest here — I get all teary eyed at Sears new commercials.  Their new campaign is about how one gift can change someone’s life.  Since I absolutely love Ty Pennington, I thought I’d show you what he had to say:

Okay, now that I’ve got myself composed again, I need to tell you what wishes Sears answered for my family. I was provided a $100 gift card from Sears that we were able to use this weekend.

Bill and I bundled the kids off early yesterday morning and headed off to Sears.  I luck out since Sears is actually walking distance from my house, and we actually shop their quite a bit — off the top of my head, we got a bench, our snowblower, and our lawnmower from there.  However, on this trip, we had no idea what we were going to get.  My Christmas shopping is pretty much done, so we were going to try to find something for the kids.

The first place we checked out was the outdoor decorations. Madison is always wanting more for our yard, and this isn’t something we spend a lot of money on.  Shortly after this picture was taken, Will decided to lay on the floor and talk to one of the deer that they had for a decoration.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the camera out fast enough to get that embarrassing photo of him.  Nothing really caught our eye in this department, so we headed over to toys.  Of course, there were a lot of toys to pick from, but really, my kids don’t need another $100 worth of toys right before Christmas.  Since the favorite part of any store for my husband is electronics, we headed to that department.

Once we were in electronics, my husband immediately walked towards the TVs even though we really don’t need one. Plus, $100 doesn’t really buy a TV (or at least not the ones he was looking at). Madison was being her normal hyper self running around looking at things until she saw the guitar hero bundle.  Yes, that is my whole family playing Guitar Hero in Sears.  Madison asked us if we could buy her the drums.

Now, the school district I live in has cut the art and music programs from the curriculum and will not be adding them back.  I have written many posts on this blog about how awful I think this situation is and how I feel that music definitely is a class that should not be cut.  My daughter loves to play instruments and sing.  I can’t imagine depriving her of it.  With the $100 Sears gift card, we will be able to fulfill her wish and give her the additional music support she will not be getting from our school.  Who knows — Madison may end up to be  talented singer, dancer, in a band, etc.  However, I’d love to give her the stepping stones she needs to reach her full potential.  (Plus, well, Guitar Hero is fun for mom and dad too.  Dad was all over getting it when I told him there was 3 Tool songs and Freak On A Leash by Korn.  I also need to add that the gift card paid for a portion of the cost of this bundle.  I paid the rest.)

Since we got such an awesome family gift from Sears, I’d like to extend this awesome opportunity to one of my readers.  Yes, I’d like to give you a $100 gift card to Sears to use however you like.

It’s been awhile since I went into a Sears, so I’m not sure what I’d shop for. I think we’d probably end up shopping for clothes, Ethan and Noah could use some new uniform pants for school, and I know I wouldn’t mind a few new nice shirts to wear for a change instead of my ratty old concert t-shirts with holes in them.

  3. Loretta on December 16th, 2008 9:17 am

If I were to spend the money on myself, I’d buy the Sapphire and Diamond Accent Channel Ring (I didn’t see an item #, sorry!). I love Sapphires, and since money is tight this year, The Mister and I aren’t exchanging gifts. We focused on family instead, since they’re in more of a tight spot than we are.

  5. Cheryl on December 16th, 2008 9:26 am

I would get Sears item# 02086100000. The Bissell Quicksteamer Deep Cleaner. My rug shampooer just broke a week and a half ago and I am heartbroken without it.

We often go to Sears for items. I would likely use the $100 toward new refrigerator. Ours came with our house and has not been looking good. The one I am looking at is: White Kenmore 18.5 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator (Item -04665962000) Of course putting it toward a snow blower would also be practical. Thanks for the opportunity.

This HDTV Picture quality is amazing for the price, December 16, 2008
    By Jamboy23 from New York

“I purchased this Samsung HDTV and I have no regrets at all!!!. Its light so you will be able to move it around easily. Its very easy to assemble. It took me around 20 mins by myself to assemble it. The HDTV channel’s pictures look realistic. I can actually see sweat on peoples’ faces. The sound is also great. I hooked up my X-box 360 and the picture quality was superior. The only problem is that the remote is very basic. It needed more buttons on it. I wish the TV had more setting options. Overall you will get your money’ s worth. I mean… nothing is perfect!!!”

Light! Good picture and LIGHT!, December 11, 2008
By TheEdMan from Fort Wayne Indiana

“After a lot of research I decided this was the HDTV for me. I have always had 27″ sets because, well, they all weighed about 100 lbs and that’s all I could handle after a heart attack. I almost had a 32″ set 5 years ago but it was over 200 lbs. Got this one home, spent 30 minutes unhooking and moving my old set, attached the base and cable coax, plugged it in and finished hooking everything up (dvd recorder, vcr, laptop) while the set programmed all the channels. Sweet!
The box has a handle on top so that I could carry it in one handed, did I mention that it’s LIGHT?
I hadn’t shopped at Sears for over 20 years and now I’ve purchased a digital camera and a TV within 5 weeks because Sears matched or significantly beat all competitors in price.”

We love Sears! They carry great quality products and stand behind what they sell. They have outstanding Customer Service. If I were to win I would love to buy my husband the Craftsman 5-Drawer Homeowner Roll-Away, 26-1/2 in. Wide – Red Sears item# 00962215000, the price is just a tiny bit over $109.00 but that would be fine by me. Then again I might want to buy the Sharp 1.4 cu.ft. 1100W Microwave Oven w/turntable – Black Sears item #02094127000 for myself. Either one would do.

    Hi Lisa!
In re: me blogging about the KMart contest post–do I just write one KMart post and link back to one blogger? You’ve listed links to other bloggers and I’ve tweeted Julie and Brett. Now that I’ve tweeted you, does that count for three entries so I cannot blog about the posts y’all did?
Is the bottom line that I credit only one blogger per post as I would be blogging about each post for each post I write?’m making this way too complicated I think! I’m thinking too much KMart blogging on my part is probably not what the goal of all this was.
Thanks for any insight you can give me!
    Cheers,
    Cyn

I would put it toward a crib for my new grandson. He was born on September 11, just two weeks after my mother passed away after a four year-long battle with inflammatory breast cancer. She was so excited for his birth.

I promised my daughter I’d buy the crib for him, but when the call came about my mother, I dropped everything to be there. They couldn’t hold my job for me, I gave up my place to live, and I have been unable to get her that crib. Still unemployed.

Sears item #04988334000. The least expensive one they have.

It’s been a rough holiday season.

This would be a great gift for my husband. Money has been very tight this year, and he has always been great on being Mr. Fix-It at home. He would be tickled to get a set of mechanics’ tools like these.

    I also tweeted this:

The mall our Sears is in is about to tear down or at least do some major renovations, so we don’t get over there often. I found something great at Sears.com, though, and it’s something I normally couldn’t afford: Lands’ End 400 TC Supima No-iron Sheet Sets (item # 09655826004). They’re under $40 each, so my husband and I could each have a set. We have only one set of really nice sheets that we got at an outlet store, because we normally can’t afford anything that nice. I thought the whole thread count thing was overrated until we got those sheets. It does make a difference!

    Sears item# 00343099000,

We are a totally digitized family, with 5 kids. We take pictures all the time, but have only one camera. There are times when I’m out & about I see something I would like to show my family. The moon was so lovely the other night in all the fog & I couldn’t find our camera to snap it.
My home computer time is low so the SD card would be useful to keep pix stored until I can upload them.
I’m mean to my bags n such so the bag is important too.

    Good luck to all!

    ~Raven

I would love to win this giftcard to buy clothes for some of the homeless children here in Ocala, FL. We have a very large population of children and teens (approx. 1700) who have so very little to call their own. I support the Arnette House who work with these children, take in as many as possible, feed and cloth them.

A $100 gift card would make a nice contribution toward this very worthy cause.

    Much Thanks, Dianne

Ok, Christmas is over and my children got mostly everything they want. My husband and I have 5 children. I am so not a selfish person. I cant be with 5 children. So since they have been taken care of, by Santa and relatives, I would use it on MYSELF!!! I would be very thrifty and buy the most I could. I want cubic zirconia princess cut earrings, new tennis shoes (mine are 4 years old) I would buy some new clothes a new purse, cosmetics and a LLBean shopping bag to carry it all in. Its nice to dream! Thanks.
