Pampers’ Little Miracle Giveaway (win a $50 American Express Gift Card!)

This giveaway is now over. The winner is Gina @ The Crave to Save. Congrats!

In celebration of its 50th birthday, Pampers is recognizing how much parenting has changed over the years, and is sharing their belief that every baby is a little miracle that deserves to be celebrated, supported and protected, by unveiling its Little Miracle Mission campaign – a program that delivers acts of kindness to miracles and their families while encouraging parents to support others. Here’s their latest commercial (and I’ll even admit that I got a little teary eyed watching it):

They recently kicked off the Little Miracle Missions campaign by delivering a giant act of support –donating care packages to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across the country. Celebs Joey Lawrence , Ali Larter, Mark Consuelos and LaLa Anthony were on-hand in New York City to personally deliver a care package and thank you basket to Mt. Sinai Hospital and their staff.

Pampers challenged me to find a way to celebrate, support or protect a miracle in my community by donating a $50 Visa Gift Card for me to use. I decided to use the $50 gift card for a person I personally know that just can’t seem to catch a break.

Natalie is a single mom of 4 (yes, 4) kids. Their ages are 16, 11, 10, and 3. She works her butt off in 2 jobs (which pay hourly), and recently her 3 year old was hospitalized with Kawasaki Disease. As any mother would, she stayed in the hospital with him (unpaid). Now, I’ll be honest — when she posted it on Facebook, I had no idea what that was. However, I’m going to give you a bit of what Kawasaki Disease is — Kawasaki disease is a rare childhood illness that affects the blood vessels; it can harm the coronary arteries, which carry blood to the heart. Kaden (her 3 year old) is now having to see a cardiologist monthly. I know when I read this (as a mom myself), my heart almost stopped for her. There is nothing worse than your child being sick, and then for him to have something nobody’s heard of makes life all the more tough.

I decided (with some help of my friend Anne who helped me surprise her since Natalie is in my hometown) to surprise Natalie with some things she needed: 90 pullups, 720 wipes, and a $25 Shell Gas Card (and who can’t use a gas card right now with gas prices soaring? Her second job requires her to drive 2 hours one way to get to!). Here’s Natalie after her surprise:

I have to admit that it did feel really good to help somebody else who needed a small helping hand. That’s why Pampers and I are working together, so you too can help someone in your community too! But first, let me tell you about how everyone can easily participate in a small way by logging on to Pampers Facebook page and hitting ‘like’. Then go to the Miracle Missions tab and commit to Mission 1 by clicking “I Want To Pledge.” Once more than 2,500 people pledge, Pampers will respond by giving baby showers to expectant mothers nationwide just in time for Mother’s Day! As a side note, anyone who pledges is automatically entered to win a year’s supply worth of Pampers diapers and wipes (and that can definitely help someone in a big way!). As a mom with two kids, I know how much money that would save you!

Okay, onto my giveaway for you. Like I said, Pampers and I have arranged for one lucky reader of mine to received a $50 gift card to create your own Little Miracle in your community. Here’s what you need to do:

MANDATORY ENTRY

Let me know how you’d use the $50 American Express Gift Card in your community. Some ideas are: purchase diapers for a family who could use them, use the money to prepare meals for a family, or even use the money to host a larger fundraiser for a family. Be creative!

I know the perfect thing! I have been helping a woman who has a 13 year old and her husband was laid off. A week after he lost his job she found out at a routine appointment that she is 8 months pregnant! She had no idea! So she needs everything. I recently gave most of my son's newborn things to a young pregnant girl with no parents (she was a foster child) but she had to move away. So, I have given this other woman clothes and some baby things my son is outgrowing but I could definitely use this to buy her anything she needs!

A young family at our church is having a surprise baby – the baby they already have was planned after 10 year with just their two oldest. I know that a couple with a youth pastor for a father and an at-home mom with 3 children and a new one on the way could definitely use this for whatever THEY need for the new arrival, so I would gladly hand it over to them as a welcome baby gift.
