The Fox Valley Concert Band will entertain park user from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the amphitheater. Local favorite, Red Woody, rocks the stage in the historic pavilion from 6 p.m. to dark. The fireworks extravaganza, can be best viewed at Pottawatomie Park or Ferson Creek Park. This year, people of all ages will enjoy an outstanding pyrotechnic production; one of the largest and most industrious fireworks shows in the Fox Valley area.

The annual lip sync contest is co-sponsored by 99.3 WAJK. It offers a chance for you to get involved and live out those “rock star” fantasies, even if you can’t sing at all (like me!) While lots of contestants are in their teens and younger, we encourage any one to get involved. There are three age divisions – 12 and under, 13-20, and family / mixed ages. There will be some great prizes, courtesy of WAJK and participating sponsors, so grab your fiends, find a song and get practicing. Contestants are scored in several categories: synchronization, interpretation/ impersonation, appearance, choreography, song selection and audience appeal.

The celebrations get under way at 8:00 am at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Blvd, when youngsters ages 4-12 adorn their bikes, scooters and wagons with banners, flags and other creative ideas for the Bike Decorating Contest. The first & second place winners will receive a certificate for a day at the Vernon Hills Park District Aquatic Center. All participants entering the contest will receive a ribbon . Contestants are invited to ride in the parade as long as accompanied by an adult.
The parade steps off at 9:00 A.M. at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive, just south of Highway 60 (Town Line Road). Marching units will follow a parade route south to Sullivan Drive and then west to Aspen. Demonstration areas will be marked along the route for your viewing pleasure. We would ask that everyone respect the wishes of those who do not want to participate in squirt gun activities.
