When you are a stay at home mum you don’t have to be without an income. There are heaps of awesome ways of making a living for yourself, without needing to leave your home. With a little bit of craftiness and know-how, you too can be earning an income that makes money while you sleep! Here are 5 ideas for crafty mums to make money.

iphone 5 covers

People love to have special personalised iphone 5 covers for their phone that show a little bit of their personality. This makes it a great opportunity for mums to get their craft on and design some cool designs for the fashion conscious among us. You can buy cheap clear cases and stick basically anything onto them using resin to achieve an awesome look and sell it at local markets or on ebay. This is a great idea for crafty mums to make a bit of money on the side.

Button Bowls

One thing that mums have heaps of is buttons. Every time we buy a new item of clothing that has buttons we get a spare one and often they just pile up and we never use them. To create an awesome bowl out of them you blow up a balloon and glue the buttons onto it with strong glue. Then when the glue is dry and the buttons are stuck fast, pop the balloon and you will have an awesome button bowl.

Reclaimed Material Fashion

We all like to clear out our old clothes when we are tired of them, and some of the pieces might not be in good enough condition to go to goodwill if they are ripped or torn in places. But if there are parts of them that are still good, they could be sewn together to make awesome patchwork skirts, pants or shirts. People are always looking for something different to wear and your old clothing can become someone else’s favourite clothing item!

Funky Vases

Old glass juice bottles can be made into funky vases with a little paint and a little bit of craft knowhow. Mix some bright coloured paint with some white paint and resin and paint onto the vase in a cool design and make a beautiful vase for some other mum to put flowers in. This is a great way of recycling what might have been rubbish and giving it new life. You’ll feel good about creating something beautiful out of something that would have been going into landfill.

Lid Magnets

Old metal or tin lids can be made into awesome fridge magnets. All you need is a bit of paint, some magnets and whatever you’d like to stick onto them. Create some funky designs and leave them to dry and in no time you will have a heaps of stock to sell at your stall at the local markets or on ebay. People are always looking for little gifts to give people as stocking fillers, or as little gifts for themselves. Why not make something beautiful for them to have in their home.
