What are you allergic to? #EyesonVISINE

Untitled drawing

As I have mentioned here many times, I am allergic to life. Yes, really! I had allergy testing many years ago, and I reacted to every single thing. I know that it is totally crazy, so of course it happened to me. I also will be having food allergy testing done shortly, because a food allergy keeps showing up in my bloodwork.

However, I am not alone. Did you know that an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from allergies? That means 1 in 5 Americans have allergy issues. That's quite a few. Allergies are the fifth leading chronic disease in the U.S. among all ages, and the third most common chronic disease among children under 18 years old. I luck out that my kids don't have any allergies yet. However, my husband has just started to get them.

Now, eye allergies happen when airborne allergens and other particles land directly on the surface of the eye, causing irritation and redness; subsequently, the body reacts to the substance by flooding the eyes with tears and mucus. Symptoms of eye allergies may include:

  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Tearing
  • Swelling and puffiness of the eyelids
  • “Foreign body sensation”
  • Burning sensation
  • Watery eyes

The most frequent airborne allergens include:

  • Pollen
  • Pet dander
  • Grass
  • Dust
  • Weeds
  • Mold

See that list? I'm allergic to every one of those. Now, if you are unlucky like me, there is some relief in site. you can use VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops to temporarily relieve itchy, red eyes due to pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander. They are clinically proven effective for eye allergy relief. VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops combine an antihistamine with a redness reliever to temporarily relieve eye itchiness and redness, helping eyes get back to normal. You just use one or two drops throughout the day as needed to treat symptoms, up to four times a day. It's that easy!

Also, make sure you come to the #EyesonVISINE Twitter party with VISINE® to learn more about what causes eye allergies, how you can prevent and manage some of the most common symptoms, exchange advice and win useful prizes! They will be giving away five prizes throughout the Twitter party. Each prize includes a chic cosmetics pouch, VISINE®-A®, facial tissues, throat drops and a $25 AmEx gift card! it will be taking place Thursday, May 8, at noon ET (11a CT / 9a PT).

    1. I have more irritant eyes from them drying out than allergies but this looks like an interesting product for my husband.

This is my worst time of year — now until mid-June. I am allergic to tree pollen. It usually helps my itchy eyes when I remember to put drops in.

It’s the pollen that is really getting me right now. Lately I feel like I have sand in my eyes. Maybe some drops would help.
