As you all probably know, I am the crazy mom at my kids school who try to earn money for the school. I am the BoxTop Coordinator, the Labels for Education coordinator, and the Tyson Coordinator. My kids' school is lucky that most of our parents can afford the school supplies that our students need. However, not all families and not all schools are as lucky as mine. That is why I was glad to hear about what Clorox®, GLAD®, Hidden Valley®, and DonorsChoose is doing to help these families! Our school is all about giving our time, our talent, and our treasure, and these brands have also stepped up do that. I am so glad to be partnering with them!

Clorox®, GLAD®, and Hidden Valley® products help parents and teachers simplify back to school by making clean homes and classrooms, storage solutions and meal and snack time easier. I know all of these products were on my back to school list! I can only imagine the stress as a parent when you realize that you can't afford the back to school supplies your child needs (and if you have multiple children this amount compounds!).This year, The Clorox Company is simplifying back to school through a partnership with DonorsChoose.org, a website that helps funds projects for classrooms in need. I've worked with DonorsChoose in the past plus I know teachers who have benefitted from them. They are pretty amazing.

Now, if you are like me, you want to know how to help. You are going to love the program they have set up, because they have made it so easy. For every $5 you spend on Clorox, Hidden Valley and GLAD products, you’ll receive $1 (up to $5) that you can redeem as a donation to DonorsChoose.org or as money off on future purchases. All you have to do is snap a picture of your receipt and upload it and earn your reward! Seriously, it is that easy. It is also a great time to start the conversation with your kids about giving back to those in need.

Clorox is also hosting a pop-up shop here in Chicago! Local families and teachers can shop for back-to-school essentials like backpacks, pencils and notebooks, as well as Clorox, GLAD and Hidden Valley products, free of charge. You read that right – free of charge. On September 7th, please join me atDouglas Taylor Elementary if you are a family in need. I will be there, and I will be writing another blog post in the days after showing you all my experience. I personally think this is so amazing to see a company give back to the community like this.

Education is the way out of poverty. Every child should be able to start the school year off on the right foot with the right supplies.
