Okay, this picture seriously freaks me out.  Yes, this is real.   This picture was taken in Atherton, Queensland (not some Outer Banks rentals place).  I am so glad I will never see one of these by me.  I hate spiders.

I guess that this is a Golden Orb Weaver.  The Golden Orb Weaver spins a strong web high in protein because it depends on it to capture large insects for food.  However, they normally don’t catch birds.

I have to thank Kat for showing me this the other night.  Did I say that I hate spiders?

Football Sunday

Bill has been gone to the Chicago Bears game all day.  The final score was 48-41, so needless to say, it really was a fun, interesting, nailbiting game.  He’s on his way home right now ( I just called him), and they are still stuck in traffic!  Right now, I am watching the Green Bay Packers while I am waiting.  Being from Green Bay, I love when I am able to watch both games!  Trust me, a Packer fan living in Chicago gets a lot of flack.  Right now, (crossing my fingers and hoping I don’t jinx them), the Packers are winning 27 - 7 against the Indianapolis, and they are looking pretty good.  Yes, even when the hubby isn’t home I watch football.

Ohhh while I was writing this, Packers intercepted and the score is 34 - 7.  Wooohooooo!  Go Pack Go!

There is a blog that I come across every so often that has a picture of dulcimer in it (and of course, I can’t remember the URL at all!).  Here is the sad thing — the only reason that I even know what a dulcimer even is is because of Jack’s Big Music Show.  This is a show that my kids watch on Noggin (for those of you without kids, Noggin is a kids cartoon network.  They have great shows like Jack’s Big Music Show and Yo Gabba Gabba.  There also are no commercials, so you won’t be seeing ads for Anoretix, Star Wars, or the new greatest toy ever.)  I just find it seriously humorous that I learned something from my children’s programming. Then again, what little Spanish I know is from Dora the Explorer and Diego.

What have you learned from watching your kid’s cartoons?

If you don’t know, the Chicago Cubs clinched the National League Central Division at home here in Chicago. This is more exciting for us here than staying in some las vegas hotels.

Normally, my husband could care less what I put on my blog. However, he did ask that I pass along this video by Eddie Vedder. The song is called “All The Way”. Keep your fingers crossed, because Chicago will go nuts if the Chicago Cubs win the World Series!

Congrats Michael Phelps!!!!

Oh yes he did!  8 gold medals in one Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Some of the races were completely nail biting.  Go USA!
