Social media can be used for good. It can be used for awareness, it can be used for education, and it can be used to bring one another up. I know on my own Facebook page last week I announced my food allergy test results. (Blog post coming shortly for that. I go again tomorrow for my environmental allergies and will post when I have a full list of everything.) What I found on Facebook and in my real life due to that post is how people have come together to help me! I've got people taking picture of food that I can eat and sending them to me. I've got people walking up to me and asking how I'm doing. I love the togetherness. I love how people can show me they care, and I love how I can thank everyone on social media and help continue the positivity I see in my life. I also take pictures of cool things I get (like today I got an ipad mini for my ambassadorship) and its great to show people the good in our lives. Positivity breeds positivity so its good to share the good in our lives. I can't stand to see my FB threads filled with hate. I'd much rather see the good and the laughter in peoples' lives.

Today’s families use digital technology in every aspect of life – from learning and socializing, to gaming and shopping! Broad access and use of technology is awesome – and opens so many new opportunities for so many students. Like any aspect of life, there are things you need to know to make positive, safe decisions. National PTA has partnered with LifeLock to share awesome ways families can create an open, evolving conversation about positive, safe decisions when using digital tools. It’s all part of having a happy, healthy lifestyle. For you, your family, your friends, and the whole world – everyone benefits when you #ShareAwesome! This is why you should snap a photo of an awesome moment in your day and share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #ShareAwesome hashtag! National PTA and LifeLock are sponsoring the #ShareAwesome contest, and students who enter the #ShareAwesome contest between September 15 – November 30, 2014 will have a chance to win fantastic prizes including tablets and a $2 (aff),500 scholarship! The #ShareAwesome campaign seeks to build an understanding among parents and students that no matter the device, the app or the networking site – the skills we need to be safe and positive online are similar to what you need offline. Who wouldn't want to win for sharing the good things in their lives?
