Getting the #FrozenFacts

Frozen foods have gotten the bad rap over the years. Instead of being applauded for making our lives easier, they often times have bad information spread about them.

The first myth is frozen foods are heavily processed and not made with fresh ingredients. Frozen meals, like Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s meals, can give families access to real, high quality ingredients year-round, because they are made with simple and fresh ingredients – like crisp vegetables and tender meats. Vegetables are also picked at the peak of freshness and most go from farm to freezer within 24 hours.

The second myth is that frozen foods taste like cardboard and are uninspired. This is completely untrue. I personally love Healthy Choice meals. I wouldn't if they didn't have any taste! Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.

Our last myth is that frozen meals are not good for someone watching their weight. Frozen meals are a great alternative when you don’t have time to cook. Meals, like Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s provide built-in portion control. The two brands have more than 80 meals with less than 400 calories.

Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s created a video that follows two women on the adventures of their daily lives, imagining how new technologies will impact their routines. With various resources available to consumers, they are now, more than ever, interested in learning where their food is coming from.

For my family, we have crazy schedules. I can't always be slaving over a hot stove/oven, so frozen foods are something I can serve my family and not feel guilty about. I also love eating the Healthy Choicce french bread pizzas for lunch.

ConAgra Foodsfrozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!

Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.
