Quaker Heart Health Month

IMG_1533Did you know that February was American Heart Month? For me, this a cause I stand behind. Why? I have a family history of heart disease. Once of the many reasons I lost almost 80 lbs. over this last year was to ward off heart disease. I want to be here for my kids. My grandfather died of a heart attack when my dad was 15. I don't want that for my kids.

During American Heart Month, Quaker is teaming up with heart-throb chef Fabio Viviani. Quaker’s Epic (aff) Hot Breakfast video starring Fabio uses light-hearted humor to encourage women to take simple steps, like eating right to help them take care of their hearts.

As important as it is for us women to eat healthy, I also feel it is important for my kids. Plus, my kids love oatmeal (see picture). If we teach them young to eat well, I am hoping that they won't have to deal with heart disease as they age.

Quaker even has an Epic (aff) Hot Breakfast sweepstakes going on. All you have to do is watch Quaker’s Epic Hot Breakfast video, share it on Twitter, and use hashtag #QuakerLove between February 14 through 28. Quaker Oats is giving one lucky winner and a guest a chance to get away for a few days, enjoy a spa treatment, and dine at Siena Tavern in Chicago. Maybe when you are in Chicago, you can come visit me too! LOL

I have always loved oatmeal, and it is very important to teach children to eat healthy early in life, so they can be educated what feed their bodies. To stay healthy is to eliminate process food out of your lives and embrace natural organic food.
