Speed Stacks

Screen Shot 2013-02-22 at 2.10.21 PMSport Stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in pre-determined sequence.

Now, my kids love Speed Stacks. It reminds them of a challenge on Minute to Win It, and they just love stacking these cups. I love that both my kids can play with it too. Instead of playing against one another, they play against their own best times. The most important thing to do when sport stacking is to use BOTH hands. That doesn't mean picking up a cup with one hand and passing it to the other to set cups in place. Each cup should be handled by only one hand. Use both hands to stack but never on the same cup.

I highly recommend Speed Stacks whether your kids (or you) are just going to play with them themselves or if they want to play at a tournament level!

Our school had Speed Stacking competition teams in the past and my kids participated. I don’t think they’re doing it this year though, I know a lot of parents were frustrated that these can’t be found in local stores anymore so we had to either order sets online or through the coach who took one big order from parents and ordered online himself.

I’ve thought about learning how to stack cups, seriously! stuff like that is good for dexterity and hand-eye coordination in us old folks 😛
