Well, I finally did it. There is a conference there in September that I had registered for months and months ago. However, I was looking for a roommate and hadn’t set up my plane or my hotel yet. However, now it is done. I am using the free Southwest ticket I won at BlogWorld last year to fly there (when I called to set up my flight, the lady was so nice and friendly and even spoke English!). We are going to be staying at the Courtyard Marriott. I found an awesome deal on their website (better than the deal that the conference was getting for us!). I wish I would have time to do some fun playing at the theme parks there, but I have to get back to my kids plus the conference has us booked up. Let me know if you are going to be there too, so we can meet up!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008A Shopping I Will Go
Monday, February 18th, 2008Yes, I think almost every post this week is going to be about my trip. This is the first trip I am actually getting excited about. I dreaded the trip to Las Vegas for BlogWorld, and I loved it there. I dreaded the trip to Miami, and that wasn’t too bad either. I thank you guys who told me not to feel guilty, because we are leaving the kids. I think I needed somebody to give me permission to be okay with leaving them. I feel semi-dorky though – I have been watching the virtual tour of my hotel today. I am just trying to get a feel for what to expect. It is all of seventeen degrees here and warm would be nice.
I have been checking out the weather report today, and I am still deciding if I need to find my shorts for not. Depending where you look, I am looking at lows in the 30’s and highs all the way up to 65 degrees. My big problem is that I am not sure if I will fit into any of my shorts (and where they are too). I think I will be going shopping this weekI already know where my swim suit is, so I am set with that. It is just figuring out if I need shorts that is the problem.
We are definitely packing jeans, sweatshirts, and our jackets. Who knows? I may actually start a list, so we don’t forget anything. However, anything we do forget, we can buy there.
Blogworld Day 2 – Evening
Sunday, November 18th, 2007After the Mark Cuban speech, I went back to my hotel and dropped all of my stuff off (basically, I had another entire bag of free swag). A bunch of bloggers were planning to meet at the Bellagio, so I had a little bit of time to catch the monorail and head over there. We met for the picture (which I need somebody to send me a copy of) and did a bit of gambling as you can see:

No matter what machine Colleen went on, she won. That girl is lucky. While we were out, I kept thinking that I had a rock in my shoe. Finally, I took my shoe off to see what was going on, and I realized that I had a blister. I wore a pair of shoes that I have owned for over ten years out there. I am thinking that was not a good idea. I should have invested in some Geox shoes or some Josef Seibel shoes instead. Those probably wouldn’t have given me blisters. We moved from the Bellagio to (I think) Paris. I think from there we went to the Imperial Palace (and we walked it). It didn’t really matter where I gambled — I didn’t win anything. I called it an early night from the Imperial Palace, since my feet were killing me, PostieCon was the next day, and I swear that they had their heat turned on. It was so hot in the casino there. (I think my early night got me back to my hotel at midnight — maybe a little before).
Mark Cuban: More Than Meets The Eye
Sunday, November 18th, 2007Honestly, I did not know what to expect when I went to see Mark Cuban as the closing speaker at BlogWorld. Before this, I did not know too much about the man. I remember him on a reality show several years ago, and I wasn’t impressed. I did know that he owned the Mavericks and that he was on Dancing With The Stars. I also did know that I wouldn’t mind having access to the man’s checking account. He has a bid in buy the Chicago Cubs too (and of all the choices, I think he would be the best).

What did I learn? Mark Cuban owns a entertainment company, and he is also a blogger. He also is a very smart man with some very strong opinions. His opinion is that one should not monetize their blog. However, he didn’t act all high and mighty about it. He honestly answered everyone’s questions. As you can tell,

quite a few people were there to listen to him. These pictures don’t show all the people who were standing at the wall with me. He had some great insights and seemed really down to earth. He talked about some of the people he doesn’t care for, the mistakes he has made, etc.
After his talk was over, I actually got to shake his hand. It was pretty cool!
BlogWorld – Day 2 Afternoon
Saturday, November 17th, 2007I didn’t do anything worth blogging about the morning of Day 2. I did head over to Blogworld in the afternoon. I knew Pete from Izea was going to be there around one, and I definitely wanted to meet him in person. I also needed to finish walking through the trade show and Mark Cuban was the closing speaker. I wanted to see him speak.
I did run into Pete:

He’s from England, so not only is he cute but he has an English accent too. Pete has his own fan club (whether he likes it or not). One of the booths I stopped at was for Southwest. On my Lisa Reviews blog, I actually wrote up a review regarding my flight on my way to Vegas, so I stopped by and let them know. They also were giving away inflatable airplanes, and I wanted to grab one for Madison. I let them know that I had written a review and enjoyed the fight. They told me they were having a contest for anyone who commented on their blog. Needless to say, I commented.
Who knew that I could later have used a nurse from a travel nursing agency later that day? Seriously, I did not need a nurse that had a travel nursing job, but my heart did stop when I found out that I won. What did I win? A free round trip ticket that doesn’t need to be used till December of 2008. I can use it anywhere that Southwest goes. Since I live in Chicago and that is Southwest’s main headquarters, I can pretty much go anywhere. I keep repeating this and no one believes me. Really, I am not lucky. I never win anything.
