What to do if your Leapster2 pen quits working?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

We changed the batteries and Madison’s Leapster tonight.  However, the pen/stylus quit working.  Here’s how to fix it:

1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted
2) Hold down the Hint button while turning the unit on
3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button
4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus
5) Restart unit

I’m listing it here for others and for myself, if it happens again.

Dude, Where’s Your Wedding Ring?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Bill and I had a date night out on Friday night.  We were eating breakfast (kid free) on Saturday morning, and our conversation went something like this:

ME:  Where’s your wedding ring?

BILL:  I lost it.  Like 2 years ago.

ME:  WHAT!!??!!

Now, we were in a restaurant so I couldn’t have a huge hissy fit, but my god!  Everyone who I’ve talked too thinks it is funny that I didn’t notice for 2 years.  However, you have to understand that on many job sites, Bill isn’t allowed to wear his band.  He also takes it off golfing.  And seriously, how often do you check your husband’s hand?  (I know you all went and checked right now.  Admit it.)

I’m like why didn’t you just go buy a new one, and I would have never known.  His response was that I pay the bills, and therefore would see that charge.   When I asked him when he was going to tell me, you will never guess his response.  When I noticed.

And let me tell you, wedding bands are way more expensive now than they were 8 years ago  . . . . Feel free to laugh at my in the comments.

Disclosure:  I don’t normally blog about fights we have, but I have permission from the idiot husband to post about this.

A Little Shirt Here, A Gym Uniform There

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

We went and picked up the rest of the school uniform Madison needs for school.  I lucked out and got about $150 worth of uniform stuff from the uniform exchange they had at the end of the school year.  They are having another in August, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pick up what we were still missing.  Then I figured the uniform store would have them on back order.  I decided to head over and get what we needed for they were too picked over.

Before we went, I had already gotten her 2 jumpers, 2 shirts, a sweater, and a pair of pants.  Yesterday, I got her 1 gym T-shirt, 1 pair of gym shorts, 1 gym sweatshirt, 1 pair of gym sweatpants, 2 shirts, and 2 headbands.  I almost fell over when it rang up to $80!  However, my mom informed me that school clothes probably would have costed me more.

My question to you is:  How much are you spending on school clothes this year?

Bill’s Car: Part II

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

We got a call on Friday to go and pick up Bill’s car.  Needless to say, we were happy that it was done early.  I had a Mary Kay party to attend that night, so Bill took the kids over to grandma’s to play while I was gone.  This also means he took the van, because the car seats where in there.  I took the newly fixed car from Oak Lawn to Tinley Park.  It was about 75 blogs and a half hour drive.

Half way there, I dummy light came on.  I continued driving since I was almost there and grabbed the book to bring in when we got there.  What I found out was that there is a “malfunction in the electronically controlled braking system”.  It also said that failing to investigate the cause of the warning may lead to the system operating abnormally and possibly causing an accident.  We were to have the vehicle inspected by a Toyora dealer immediately.

Needless to say, I was pissed.  The brakes were something that they fixed AND I was 75 blocks away from home.  Bill and I had it out over whether I should drive it (he said yes — I said no).  I ended up catching a ride home with the Mary Kay lady.  We called the place that fixed the car this morning, and they towed it.  (Guess I made the right decision leaving it there!).

Sooooo we have no idea when we the car back.  Again.  Sigh.  (For those wondering, we have a really crappy rental car.  Again.)
