All of my food has arrived and I am starting my Nutrisystem Journey. I’ll warn you if you are starting this program that it is a tad overwhelming when everything shows up. First, you have to find room for all the food. I was super excited to find out that a lot of the food is stuff I like. I’m pretty picky and if I can find food to eat with Nutrisystem so can you. With the Nutrisystem food, you will find your resource guide. It is a definite must read. The resource guide directs you along your weight loss journey. It also makes it way less overwhelming. It also makes you realize that you have a team behind you.

As my title states, I started Nutrisystem this morning. I started this morning with a Nutrisystem Breakfast Bar. Nutrisystem makes it so easy:

I love that I just pick what I’ve eaten from the plan, and I just pick each thing. Their system does the rest as you can see. Plus, it makes it really easy to see what I’m doing and what I’m eating. The protein shake was actually way better than I thought it was. I am use to really gross chocolate diet shakes. This one — yummy and chocolately. The breakfast bar was also way more filling than I thought it would be. I’ll have to update you on lunch since it is in the microwave as I am typing this. I love that I have lots of food choices.

Best of all is that I somehow managed to lose 4 pounds from the time I signed up for the program and got my food. Hopefully, I can keep that up!!!

As a blogger, I sometimes get invited to really cool events. I recently attended a tour of Mrs. Prindables.  I’ve got one word for the place:  YUM!

Ok, seriously.  They’ve never done a tour before, and I have to admit that it was one of the coolest tours I’ve been on.  It’s really cool to see all of the hard work and time that gets put into these apples.  An apple isn’t just an apple here.  One of the first things that I learned was Mrs. Prindables has their own line of apples (and no there was never a Mrs. Prindable).  They also are the ones that do Affy Tapple apples.  Now, Affy Tapple apples are big here in Chicago.  I’m not sure if they go outside the immediate area here or not.  We actually did some fundraising for Madison’s school with Affy Tapple this year.  We got to watch them make both.  The main difference between the two is that Mrs. Prindables is hand made.  Yes, hand made which is why they cost more.  Affy Tapple apples are automatically made.  (See story below).  They also use a lot larger apples for the Mrs. Prindables apples.

It was truly an eye opening experience:

We were sent home with some caramel and a triple dipped chocolate apple to try.  To die for.  Seriously.  You wouldn’t believe how rich it was.  And how yummy.  I can say that this is a great unique gift to send a loved one or even buy for yourself!

About a month ago, I was invited to go to 1-800-Baskets. Now, I had heard of 1-800-Flowers before, but never 1-800-Baskets. I was in for an eye opening experience.

Now, when you look at a gift basket or tower, do you ever think about how much work goes into it? I’ll be honest, I never did. It was just something I looked at on their website and ordered. What I never knew was how much time and effort goes into making just one of these baskets. I have to say I was impressed. All of the employees that we met with had such enthusiasm for their jobs. The CEO actually went with us all day. We got to taste test the chocolate and the cheese that they use in their baskets.

This is their design center.  It was huge and impressive:

One of the coolest things we got to do (besides all the learning) was to make our own gift baskets:

I can honestly say that I will be ordering from 1-800-Baskets in the future (I’ve actually got an ordered placed for a Christmas present!). After seeing the quality and workmanship that happens at 1-800-Baskets, I’ll be using them for years to come.

I would like to say that I was sober for the entire time I was at Izeafest.  I ended up as the driver 2 out of the 3 nights, and I really don’t believe in drunk driving.  That being said I did do the IzeaHunt without anything alcohol in me.  We had to do a ton of wild and crazy things.  What was at stake?  A $100 gift card for Home Depot for all of us.  When money is on the line, well, you do crazy things.  Honestly I wish I would have brought some other outdoor clothing with.  My clothes were almost destroyed from this scavenger hunt.  It took several washings once I got home to get the shaving cream and chocolate sauce out!

For some reason, I cannot find my team photos on Flickr at all.  What I will do is show you some of the other teams instead.  You will see how crazy this really did get:

Ok, we had to do crazy things like take a picture with a 6’5″ person, make a human sundae, get pineapple and a potato, walk somebody else’s dog, etc.  There was 4 pages of things, and we only had about an hour to try and do as much as we could.  One of the more crazy things we had to do was find a toilet seat and bring it back.  I think Ted was the only one who was able to do that!  Unfortunately, my team did not win.  However, it was still a ton of fun!

After the hunt was over, we all took a break, sat down, talked, and ate some great food.  I was able to sit down and talk to Cass and Sean Jackson.  It was hard to believe that I was going to be hopping on a plane the next morning and heading back home (what I didn’t know at this time was that Chicago had gotten record levels of rain and my yard was literally a swimming pool.  The water in my yard was up to my knees!).  We were able to compare notes and just enjoy ourselves.
