We went and picked up the rest of the school uniform Madison needs for school. I lucked out and got about $150 worth of uniform stuff from the uniform exchange they had at the end of the school year. They are having another in August, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pick up what we were still missing. Then I figured the uniform store would have them on back order. I decided to head over and get what we needed for they were too picked over.
Before we went, I had already gotten her 2 jumpers, 2 shirts, a sweater, and a pair of pants. Yesterday, I got her 1 gym T-shirt, 1 pair of gym shorts, 1 gym sweatshirt, 1 pair of gym sweatpants, 2 shirts, and 2 headbands. I almost fell over when it rang up to $80! However, my mom informed me that school clothes probably would have costed me more.
My question to you is: How much are you spending on school clothes this year?

Nothing else makes you feel more than buying yourself something nice. As mom, I will be honest, that doesn’t happen too often. However, when I do actually buy myself something nice, I like to go all out (since I rarely do it). One thing that you can get yourself is a great pair of jeans. When I went to the Mom It Forward event a couple of months ago, I was talking to Liz Strauss. She told me it was soooo worth spending the extra money and getting yourself a pair jeans that truly fit you. Not only do they look better, they make you feel better too.
Now, no matter how great a pair of jeans looks there is no way I am going to spend over $1,000 on a pair of jeans. However, the Armani Exchange has New Premium Denim starting at $98. That is a price I can afford. Also, if you purchase a full price pair of denim from Armani Exchange, in store or online between 7/7/09 – 7/19/09, you will receive a gift card of $20 off you next purchase of $100 or more. Here are a couple of jeans I would definitely pick up:

These are three styles that I think are cute and would definitely wear. Now, they also are running an awesome text A|X contest. They are giving away a pair of denim every day for the month of July. To enter, all you have to do is text the keyword “DENIM2″ to ARMANI (276264).
If you are needed a little retail therapy or just want a new pair of jeans, make sure you check out the Armani Exchange first!

This year for my birthday I asked for money. It is so much easier just to shop for myself. This year, I want clothes and towels for my birthday. Now, towels are easy to buy. Clothes, well those aren’t quite as easy. However, one night this week, I am going to head over to the mall to go shopping.
One of the first stores I am going to check out is Sears. Sears is one of are anchor stores and always has great deals there. Right now, they are offering 75-80% off their original prices on fall and winter apparel until April 18th! Not only can I get some great deals for me, but I can also get some great deals on my kids clothes for next year (Madison outgrew the girl we get clothes from and Will did too. It has gotten pretty expensive to buy them clothes, so I like to save when I can.)
Even though my kids need clothes, I like some new shirts for myself. All of my more dressier T-shirts have shrunk from being washed a million times. Now, that I have birthday money, I plan on using it on myself and buying myself some shirts like that on the left. How often can you get plus size shirts for only $7.99?
Honestly, there is just so much Sears apparel that appeals to me. I could spend another thousand words showing you all of the stuff I like (and that’s just off the clearance rack!).

How was your Halloween? Here is Chicago we had a beautiful day. The last two Halloweens it was so cold that we have to dress the kids in layers of berghaus clothing, and they were still cold after about an hour. Not that they wanted to quit trick or treating or anything, but I was worried about how cold it was. However, this year, we didn’t have that problem. I think it was almost 70 degrees out. I definitely had the kids and myself overdressed. I actually found myself sweating at times. Isn’t that crazy?
We went with my neighbors and their kids and ended up trick or treating for about two hours. About half way through, we went back to our houses and got a wagon. Will was getting super heavy a that point. Bill would have been here to help, but he got stuck in a huge traffic jam trying to come home (obviously, everyone had the same idea to leave early). After the third house, I quit walking Will to the door. His 27 pounds gets quite heavy when you have to walk up porch steps several time. However, Madison made sure he was taken care of. She asked at almost every house for candy for her little brother. Then she would run to Will and put it in his pumpkin. It was cute, but highly embarassing for me.
After two hours, Bill ended up getting home, and we went to his brothers house. We were suppose to trick or treat over there, but the kids were pretty much done (which was fine with me, because I was beat). We just ended up ordering pizza, and the kids just played together.
All in all it was a pretty good day. How about you? How did you spend your Halloween?

I love Lands End. They have some of most stylish clothes at a good price. They even have plus size items that look good, so they score 2 thumbs up in my book. I also love that they have a virtual model on their site. All you have to do is put in your height and weight (there are othere things you can customize too like eye shape and hair color). You then can pick up clothing to put on your model, and know how that looks on you. You can exchange out colors, sizes, and pretty much anything else you want.
