The room in the basement is now demolished. I can’t believe how big the basement looks now! I am going to take some pictures tonight, so I can show you all! This is slowly coming together. We have Bill’s friend Tony, who is plumber, going to stop over one night this week, so he can tell us where we should put the bathroom (we currently only have one bathroom, so a second one is definitely needed). Bill’s uncle is also coming over Thursday. He has a rehab business and does things like drywall. I am hoping that we can have them do the drywall and get it done. If not, I am not sure if the basement will get done in time for Will’s birthday. We also have some HVAC issues down there, so I am hoping they can do something regarding that too. Everything is slowly, but surely coming together right now.

Friday, April 4th, 2008Well, the dumpster got delivered this morning. Tomorrow, Bill and his brothers start demoing the room that is in the basment. They have tear the drywall down and tear the subfloor out. We are suppose to have excellent weather (high of 62). Once that is done, Bill starts on the electric down there. He has to rerun a bunch of stuff, use some splitters, and get rid of all the boxes (I think they are called electrical boxes but I am not sure). Once that gets done, the drainage tile gets put in in the beginning of May. Then we have the drywall and the bathroom that needs to get done.
Well, my plans are to take a picture after they get done tomorrow, so you can see the before and after.

Weekend Update
Monday, March 31st, 2008Well, we got them majority of stuff out of the basement over the weekend. Now, we just have a pile of trash and a few boxes that need to go out. I am calling for the dumpster this week. We are planning to demo the one room that is down there this weekend. Once we do that, we are going to work on our floor plan (I want to add another bathroom down there and Bill wants to add a home office). I want the basement finished by Will’s 1st birthday (June 7th). Besides the above rooms, Bill needs to rerun the electric, we need to rerun the venting, and we need to add drywall. We have a lot of work ahead of us.
We also bought a new stove, but that’s for a post a little later (so I can get a picture).
Basement
Friday, March 28th, 2008Well, the basement guy came today. We are now scheduled to have the drainage tile to be put in May 5th and May 6th. That will give us exactly a month to get the basement drywalled, wired, put a bathroom in, get the heat working, paint, etc before Will’s birthday party. Just a few things we need to get done. LOL This weekend, Bill and his brother are going to carry the furniture out into the garage, so we can start demoing the room that we have down there. So many things to do, so little time to do it in.

The Demo Starts Now
Monday, March 24th, 2008Well, not quite now. I am calling to see how much it is to rent a dumpster, so we can start demoing the room in the basement. However, I don’t know how long we need it for or how big of one we need, so I sound like a moron when I am talking to these people. I know Bill would rather be playing golf than messing around with the basement, but that room needs to be taken down before we can do anything. We have a field supervisor coming out on Friday to inspect the basement, and then we will get the date of when they will install the drainage tile. Once that is done, it is a mad dash to finish finishing off the basement before Will’s birthday.
