#NSNation – Week 9 Update – All About The MiniGoals
My overall goal when I joined Nutrisystem was to lose 100 lbs. I’ll be honest — when I started, I didn’t know if that was even an obtainable goal. Every time I’ve tried to diet in the past, I didn’t do so well.
With Nutrisystem, I was given the tools to succeed, and one of the recommendations we were given was to make minigoals. Yes, that 100 lbs would be great. However, I (and you) need something that is little closer at in grasp. So, I am actually going to reveal my minigoals to you all. For me, that is incredibly hard to do. In my warped brain, if I tell people my minigoal and don’t achieve it, then I’ve failed. Except I know that I haven’t, but my fat brain hasn’t figured that out yet. (And I call my brain the fat brain because even with everyone telling me how much weight it looks like I lost, I don’t see it!).
So with sweaty hands as I type this, here are my minigoals that I set up for myself:
- Lose 25 lbs.
- Lose 50 lbs.
- Lose 75 lbs.
- Get below 200 lbs.
- Get out of Plus Size Clothes
Here’s a little video I made letting you know what goal I beat!
As you can see, I’ve hit my first mini goal. It took me 9 weeks to lose 25 lbs. Now, that 25 lbs was no where near as daunting as 100 lbs or even 50 lbs. That is what this is all about. I can celebrate that I lost 25 lbs. That makes me proud to tell people.
When you lose weight, do you set minigoals? What minigoals do you set for yourself? Any minigoals I should add to my list?
THIS WEEKS WEIGHT LOSS: 1.4
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS: 25

That’s What Friends Are For – #NSNation Update – Week 8
What I have learned in this weight loss journey is that you need to surround yourself with people who support you. It makes a lot easier to stick with the Nutrisystem program when your family and friends have your back! I have found a lot of allies in this journey. I love that one of my SIL’s will Facebook message me with words of encouragement. (Thanks T!). I have another SIL who when we are texting that will ask how it is going. (Thanks C!). Sometimes it is great to just know that people care and are invested in your life. It also makes you more motivated to stick with your program. I have some great blogging friends like Elizabeth, Annie, and Audrey who often send me message of encouragement. I have a husband who tries not to sabotage my efforts. He’s also let me bring more healthy foods into our home and doesn’t complain too much about them. :) And a special thanks to all of you readers and commenters. I read each and every comment, and I can’t tell you much they have helped (especially the week that my weight loss stalled out! It was great to read all of your experiences).
Now, I’ve read that you shouldn’t tell people when you are on a diet. I hate to respectfully disagree. Without the support of all of you, I don’t know if I could have done this! And a another special thanks goes to Nutrisytem. Without them, I don’t think I could have done this. I’ve tried to lose weight before, but I have never been this successful!
Onto the important update now!
THIS WEEKS WEIGHT LOSS: 2.2
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS: 23.6
The bad thing is that I have no shorts that fit me. The good news is that I am soooo close to 25 lbs lost!!

Inspiration – #NSNation Update – Week 16
Four months. Can you believe it? I have been working the Nutrisystem program for 4 months now.
I’ll be honest, when I started this program, I didn’t have a lot of faith in myself. I have never known the correct way to diet. My high school dieting involved eating as little as possible. I did try in college some of the other weight loss programs out there, but I was never very successful with them. Hence, my need now to lose about 100 lbs. (which is now much less, but I digress).
I had something amazing happen to me last week. Now, I’ve had one of my best friends tell me that if she could afford it, she would try Nutrisystem just due to my results. (You often will see her commenting on my posts here). However, I received a Facebook message last week from a cousin of mine that I see about once a year if I am lucky. She told me that I inspired her, and she joined Nutrisystem because of my success. Wow, is all I can say. I’ll be honest — it still amazes me how my blogging can help others and change their lives. And yes, I got a little teary eyed when she said that.
When I started this, I never expected to inspire anyone. I didn’t expect the lifestyle change and the way I think about food changing. It never dawned on me to order the tilapia instead of the breaded fish and chips. It never dawned on me that my issue with food had more to do with serving size than willpower. I have a friend also named Lisa who inspires me from week to week. We read one another’s blogs to see how we each are doing and comment to help one another along. I also read the comments on my posts, and it really does bring a tear to my eye when I read that I inspire people. Little old me. You all inspire me though with your helpful and loving comments. I’d love to say this is easy. Some days it is. Some days it is incredibly difficult.
I helped coach Madison’s soccer team last Friday. The last half of practice we had a scrimmage against the kids (2 coaches against 8 kids). I ran. That is something that I can tell you that I would not have done 40 lbs heavier. I wouldn’t have been able to do it. Best of all, I was able to get out of bed the next morning. That is such a great feeling.
Now that I’ve bounced all over with this post, onto the important stuff. Here’s this weeks progress:
THIS WEEKS WEIGHT LOSS: 1.2
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS: 37.8
I always wish it could be more, but I’ll take that! So who inspires you?
