My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

Bill and I have been talking for a while about signing up Madison for soccer. She’s only 4, but we have a net in the yard. She’s actually pretty good (this coming from a person who actually played soccer in high school) for a 4 year old. She knows how the goalie throws the ball. She even knows how to dribble the ball. Yet, Bill and I haven’t worked on either skill with her, so we are not sure where she learned them. The only thing (and I laugh every time she does it) she does wrong is that she has to set herself before she kicks a goal.

Well, today we signed her up for a semi-local soccer place. Its a tad more expensive than say the park district, but the class ratio is better. Plus, it has open enrollment. We went to our first class today, and she loved it!!! She literally ran around for 50 minutes (if she can keep this up, she’ll never need anti wrinkle cream since exercise helps keep those away). Her skills were better than some of the other kids who have been there the entire session! One of the little games they played was called Ants and Dogs (you had to keep from being tagged), and Madison won!

We signed up for the rest of this session. We’ll see how it goes, and maybe Madison can play all summer!

It is all she talks about 24/7. She was calling everybody peepeeheads and such, but I at least got her to stop that. You would think that the kid would need some incontinence supplies after all this potty talk. Now, she just talks about pee and poop ALL THE TIME. Normally, I wouldn’t care too much, but we have several days with family coming up. I would prefer that we didn’t have this kind of talk — its a tad embarrassing. Any mommy advice out there?

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

What to do — what to do. Here is my Christmas card dilemma — do I go to Sears and have some Christmas cards done? That is what I have done the last couple of years. However, I could set up a little studio here and take some pictures tomorrow in front of the Christmas tree (well, that is, if we actually get the tree up). Then I could upload the picture to my computer and either just print out pictures to include with our Christmas cards or head over to Walgreens and do their picture cards. Then I wouldn’t have to wait 10 days or more, and it would be a lot cheaper since I need to order over 60 cards! Decision, decisions. I have checked the cards we have gotten so far. A couple of my friends have went the professional route, some took a picture they took over the summer and used that, some took a recent picture and just shoved it in the card, and some used their kids school pictures. Well, that sure didn’t help me decide. On the subject of Christmas cards, I am not a person who writes up those “Christmas letters”. I don’t think anyone wants to know that I found a good deal over at www.corvetteguys.com or that Madison is fully potty trained. (Now, if you send out those letters, more power to you. I do not.) Which brings me back to where I started — how do you do your Christmas cards and what should I do?

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

I understand being a pet lover even though I am not one. However, would you save your pet over your child? Would you forget that your child was even in the house?

I came across this story yesterday where a couple in Beaver County, PA, got their dogs out of their burning mobile home. However, Crystal Adams and James Chandler forgot his 4 year old son. After being asked repeatedly if anyone else was in the mobile home, they remembered after twenty minutes that the boy was in his room. A firefighter thankfully went in and saved the boy. He ended up getting treated for smoke inhalation. Crystal and James were charged with reckless endangerment.

I seriously cannot understand this. How do you forget your child? How do you get your dogs out before your child? As many of you know, I am not a pet lover, so maybe I am missing something here. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. I am hoping when they figure out what caused fire, this story doesn’t take another sad turn.

I have several questions for my readers especially the pet lovers (since I am so not a pet lover). If your house was on fire, who would you save first – your pets or your kids? Also, would you forget that your child was in the house?

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said, “You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking.” The cat thought for a minute and then said, “All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on.”

God said, “Say no more.” Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow. A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat.

The mice said, “Well, we have had to run all of our lives: from cats, dogs, and even people with brooms! If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again.”

God answered, “It is done.” All the mice had beautiful little roller skates.

About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow. God gently awakened the cat and asked, “Is everything okay? How have you been doing? Are you happy?”

The cat replied, “Oh, it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meals on Wheels you have been sending over are delicious!”
