This Weeks Post Was Actually Written By Sgt. McGowen A Year Before He Passed Away. He Was Suggested By His Granddaughter, Leigh, To Honor Him.

In 1942 he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. He was sent to England. His trip there took him through Warrior, Alabama, Ft. McClellan, Ft. A Day Off But We’re Still Working

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Bill has today off. Woohoo! I got to sleep in till 9 (which any parent knows is super late since Will got up at 5 am which is slightly better than the 4 am yesterday). I got to dream about flats to rent in Leeds and whatever else fit my fancy. (I don’t really remember my dreams, so who knows what I really dream about. The only one I still remember was not a flat rental in Leeds — I dreamt I had miscarriage when I was pregnant with Will. To this day, it still freaks me out).

Whoops, a little off topic there.  LOL.  Seriously though, Bill got it in his head that we are cleaning the house today.  All of it.  Every single room.  He’s been in the kitchen for about an hour or so now cleaning (though there’s no way it would have taken me that long but whatever).  He still hasn’t mopped though I do think he’s swept.  I am suppose to be cleaning (shhhhh that I’m doing this instead).  We thinks we should have a little get together tomorrow for the 4th even though it’s suppose to pour.  So needless to say, I’ll probably not be here much longer because I have a living room to clean.

How are you spending your 4th?

But Mom I Can’t Stay In Bed

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

How many times have you heard your kids say that?  Let me tell you, Madison has been on a roll lately.  For some reason, she is refusing to go to sleep at night.  She’s killing me.  I want to get to bed, and she’s staying up later than me and Bill.  I refuse to let the 5 year old the run of the house, so I am the one that tends to suffer.  Let’s see, her excuses to not go bed include:

  • I’m thirsty
  • I’m not tired
  • I have to go to the bathroom
  • I don’t want to sleep by myself
  • I hate sleeping
  • It’s too loud

A lot of the time, she doesn’t even have excuses.  She just slinks herself down the hallway thinking that we won’t notice.  Of course, I always do.  She’s not as quiet as she thinks she is.

What kind of excuses do your little ones come up with for why they can’t go to bed?  What do you do to stop them?

Izeafest . . .here I come

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Well, I finally did it.  There is a conference there in September that I had registered for months and months ago.  However, I was looking for a roommate and hadn’t set up my plane or my hotel yet.  However, now it is done.  I am using the free Southwest ticket I won at BlogWorld last year to fly there (when I called to set up my flight, the lady was so nice and friendly and even spoke English!).  We are going to be staying at the Courtyard Marriott.  I found an awesome deal on their website (better than the deal that the conference was getting for us!).  I wish I would have time to do some fun playing at the theme parks there, but I have to get back to my kids plus the conference has us booked up.  Let me know if you are going to be there too, so we can meet up!

Fit Flops

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

No, I did not mispell flip flops. Fit Flops is the actually the name of some new shoes (well, flip flops) that came out. They are really cool. Not only are Fitflops fashionable, they also help you stay in shape. The Fit Flop launched last summer in England and was a huge hit over there. I think they actually might have sold out. The idea behind these shoes is that they are made with micro wobbleboard™ technology which allows you to work out your muscles every time you take a step! It makes your legs look thinner and your butt look better? Who doesn’t want that? It is the perfect reason you can give to your husband/boyfriend/fiance when they ask you why you need another pair of shoes. They come is 5 different colors (black, chocolate, navy, silver, and red), so you can match almost any outfit you have. What are you waiting for?
