Shop.com

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I have found my new favorite place to shop online.  Why do you ask?  I just found the best deal ever on a Leapster 2 by using Shop.com.  Now, Leapster 2s on their own run around $79.99, so when I saw this one, I got super excited.  See, this one with a game is $79.99!  This gets even better too!  If you look closely at the Leapster, it is Star Wars!  Now, Madison is a Star Wars freak, so I can only imagine how excited she would be to see this under the Christmas tree from Santa!  I am excited, and this isn’t even for me.  Also, because it black, this can easily be passed down from Madison to Will.  I don’t have to worry about hearing that it’s a girl color!  (Yes, I am thinking that far ahead).

Now, Shop.com has over 2,000 stores, so you can definitely find something for everyone there.  You can type just about anything in the search engine on there, and it’ll pull it up.  You will see all the stores that carry that item plus how much each one wants for it.  I also love that purchases can be made using one universal “shopping cart” to buy everything at one time or by clicking over to participating merchants’ sites.  You can easily get all your Christmas shopping done at one site and know you are getting the best price!  I love that this takes some of the time and stress off me.  I love that I found her present, and I was just browsing through the toys! Shop.com also has expert advice, shopping tips, and articles.  My only complaint is that you can’t search through the toys by age (which is important when you have an 18 month old, since he still sticks everything in his mouth).

If you want a one stop shop for your Christmas shopping this year, Shop.com should be it.  See you there, because I am going to do some more shopping!

Dr Visit Update

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I took Will to the doctor this afternoon. He went from 7 lbs. 3 oz. last week to 8 lbs. 5 oz. this week. I guess he is not spitting up as much as it looks like he is. We adjusted his dosage, and we have to go back in a week for an update. Since he is gaining a lot of weight, they aren’t too concerned with the spitting up.

The surprising thing that happened is that the doctor heard a heart murmur. We have to go see a pediatric cardiologist on July 26th now. I guess this is pretty common, but I am trying not to freak out. With everything that went wrong with the pregnancy, I thought we were finally in the clear. Right now, I think I just need to get some sleep, and I won’t be so upset by this.

Anybody have any stories to make me feel better? Julie already emailed me hers, so thank you!

More News On Todd Stroger

Friday, May 25th, 2007

I wrote earlier this week about how Todd Stroger’s biggest challenge has been the media. You know, none of the important stuff liking laying people off bothered him. I just found out that Mr. Stroger has hired yet another one of his friends for a high paying position!

Richard Velazquez is being paid to give legal advice to Todd Stroger. However, his paycheck is coming from the Public Defender’s Office. You know, the same office that just had to lay off 13 lawyers and 65 – 70 people are being forced to take unpaid days off because of the budget cuts. How much is this guy making? $108,000 a year.

What a freaking joke!

Police

Friday, May 18th, 2007

We got home from the doctor’s two nights ago to about a zillion police cars last night. Ok, it was not a zillion, but it sure felt like a lot. There were 2 squads with their lights on about 7 houses down the street parked. There was a squad car patrolling the alley that goes along side of my house. There was a squad car driving up and down my street with its light thingy shining into our yards. There was also two cops on foot and one of them had a dog. When we drove into the alley to park, we also passed two squad cars. Me, being nosy, asked Bill if I should get the mail and see if I could find out what was going on. So, here I go, in the dark, to my mailbox trying to see if I could get a least a hint of the chaos surrounding us. Of course, couldn’t find anyone to talk to. I then walked back to the house and then saw the two cops on foot. I yelled to them that we just got home and was there a break in. They said no but that if I saw a black kid with a black polo shirt on that I should call the police immediately.

I then went into the house. Bill and I proceeded to make sure that every door and window in our place was locked. Bill even locked the garage which we never do. It was a bit freaky. Any idea what that kid must have done to warrant that kind of police presence? I am guessing this isn’t just a case of breaking and entering.

Preterm Labor

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

No, I didn’t drop off the face of the earth. I just ended up in the hostital yesterday. Don’t freak out — everybody is fine.

I ended up having contractions and pressure, so we went up to labor and delivery floor at the hospital and got it checked out. Come to find out, I have a UTI (urinary tract infection) which is probably what started my contractions. My cervix was closed, so they gave me a shot to stop the contractions. It worked for a while and then the contractions started again. They gave me a different drug (this one in pill form) and kept me overnight for observation. I am now discharged and have no restrictions.

I have to thank Cass for listening to me and advising me on what she thought I should do. Going to the hospital was the right decision (I just missed out on a 70 degree day!).
