I know, interesting title.  But see, you have to know what the last week was like in my house.  Last weekend we were gone to a wedding.  All week, the earliest my hubby came home from work was 7 pm.  Needless to say, the house was a wreck.  On top of all that, I was changing hosting due to many issues with Bluehost (which I will blog about later!).

Hell froze over because well, the hubby actually got it into his head that we needed to clean the house.  Not only that, he helped.  We went from room to room and actually cleaned the majority of the house.  He actually got on his hands and knees and cleaned the tub.  He used an old toothbrush to clean the jets on the whirlpool.  That’s what a good job he did.  We rearranged the living room again too!  After the kids went to bed last night, he also went grocery shopping and managed to spend less than $200 too!  (However, some of his choices were not so good so I’ll be going back, but I am not complaining.)

It feels good to have a semiproductive weekend.  This afternoon we will be going to one of his friend’s house for a little party, and I am not sure what we have in store for tomorrow.

From the time he finished high school, Sgt. Steve Morin Jr. made serving in the military his career.

“He always stood up for what he thought was right,” Gwendolyn Michelle Morin, his wife, said. “He was a fighter. He would never give up.” “He had called me to let me know what he was going to do that day,” she said. He expected to be able to call her more often because of the missions he was being assigned. Sometimes they would go 11 or 12 days between calls.

Morin enlisted in the Navy after graduating high school in his hometown of Brownfield, Texas at 17. By 34, Morin had devoted 14 years to the Navy, served in the National Guard for two and planned to attend Officers Candidate School. Morin was still in the Navy when he met his wife. At the time, the two were working for a photo company; he was Santa Claus and she was an elf, she said. Both were attending Texas Tech University. “It was funny because we always kept running into each other. He would hang outside my classes and wait for me with a Diet Coke,” recalled Gwendolyn. “He knew how to make me really happy.”

Sgt. Morin died when an IED went off, overturning the vehicle he was riding in near Umm Qasr, Iraq.

“He’s very strong willed, very determined. Humorous, a clown, but he was also very disciplined and very passionate about what he believed in,” Gwendolyn Morin said. “He always wanted to serve his country.”

While on vacation, we made some big decisions about the house. Bill is pretty sure we can’t afford to go up (that and we don’t want to go into a ton of debt trying to just get the shell and then there isn’t enough cash left over to actually finish the thing). We do need the extra space (Will’s bedroom is only 9×11 without a closet). However, we have an unfinished basement that would really give us the extra space we need. We really just want a toy room and a living room down there. Bill would eventually like a bar and maybe a pool table with some billiards supplies. I wouldn’t mind being able to put our dartboard back up too. I am pretty sure Bill wouldn’t mind if I tell him to put up a game room like that. (My grandma had a pool table in her basement, and as kids, we always played with it. Not that it actually made be a better pool player – lol. She actually still has it too. She also still has a foosball (sp?) table that we enjoy playing with too.) We have almost 600 square feet that we are working with, so we really can do almost anything we want. We have gotten several quotes in the last three years about fixing our leaky basement floor, and I think this year we are going to make this a reality. We are setting up talking to my hubby’s friend Tony about putting a bathroom in the basement first and then calling US Waterproofing to come out and give us an estimate next. My goal is to have a finished basement by Will’s birthday. Now, whether that is really going to happen is another story.

I actually got this in an email, but it made me laugh so I have to pass it on.

“True Friendship” (With none of that Sissy Crap!!!!)

Are you tired of those sissy “friendship” poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-just the stone cold truth of our friendship.

When you are sad — I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you that way.

When you are blue — I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

When you smile — I will know you finally got laid.

When you are scared– I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

When you are worried — I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

When you are confused — I will use little words.

When you are sick — Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don’t want to catch whatever you have.

When you fall — I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

This is my oath….. I pledge it to the end. “Why?” you may ask,”Because you are my friend”. We don’t need a succession plan, because friendship is like peeing your pants: everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

One of my favorite actors was found dead this afternoon in his apartment. According to CNN, it looks like a possible overdose since pills were found in the vicinity. I wish that young Hollywood would realize that they are not invincible. He has a two year old daughter with Michelle Williams. If I hear anything else, I’ll let you all know. At this point, they aren’t saying much about this shocking news.

EDIT: According to The New York Times, it was Mary Kate Olsen’s apartment.
