A Little Pest Here, A Little Pest There
With that title, you may think I’m talking about the kids. This time, I’m not. I’m not even talking about the Halloween kids that will be knocking at my door shortly!
Instead, I’m talking about real pest control. I’ll be honest — this isn’t something I even thought about until I owned a home. When we lived in a Aurora, we had a huge pest problem. We didn’t need termite control or anything like that. Instead, we kept getting those worm looking bugs. They covered our basement, and they were just gross. Here, we just have a box elder issue. Since they don’t really hurt anything, we just suck it up at this point. Since we have a snake in the yard (garner snake that is), we don’t need a mice exterminator. He does it just fine.
Now, my sister in law has a huge bee problem at her house. She called a company like Terminix (it could have been them for all I know) to come out and spray. The bees at her house would dive bomb you if you were outside. Come to find out, the prior owners to their house made wine in their garage, and they think that the bees keep coming back for that.
What kind of pests do you find in your house? How do you get rid of them?

Furniture Tip Over Safety
Safe Kids USA shares tips to prevent furniture tip-overs in this video. Regardless of your child’s abilities and limitations, top-heavy furniture, TVs and appliances can tip over and seriously injure young children. There are many easy-to-install devices that anchor furniture to the wall, making furniture more stable and tip-over resistant. These devices are designed for dressers, wall units and anything your little explorer might try to climb.

Why do projects always take longer than they should?
I hope everyone had a relaxing Memorial weekend. Unfortunately, I did not. I started a project that should have taken me a day (or so I thought). Since we moved Will to a toddler bed, I wanted to reflect that in his room decor. At the time, it seemed like a great idea.
How hard is it to remove a wallpaper border? Extremely hard! Bill took the kids to his moms and five hours later I was done with just the border. Sigh. I still had to paint. No problems there, right? I wish. I bought Behr paint with primer in it thinking it would save me time. No such luck. After 3 coats of paint and 3 days in that room, we still aren’t done. It really could use a 4th coat, but I am so done painting. Part of the problem is that Bill picked suck a dark blue to paint it. (Sorry no pics — Will is napping right now and well, we aren’t done). We did get some shelves up. The other problem is that we made it Handy Manny themed (which Will loves). There is nothing out there to decorate with, so we are winging it right now with how to decorate the walls.
It looks nice, it’s not done, and it took twice as long as it should. Why is every project in the house a pain in the butt?
