Early Intervention – Week 1

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Early intervention came in on Tuesday for our first appointment. I’ll be honest — I had no idea what to expect.  The only thing I knew going into it was that our therapist’s name was Lisa (I know, pretty easy for me to remember).  I have to say that I think it went well.

The first visit was just to get Will to warm up to her.  He thought she was cool, because she came with a bunch of toys.  However, he wouldn’t let her touch him at all, and he made sure we knew he was in control of the session by walking out several times.

She told me he’s very smart, and that sometimes means it’ll take longer to talk, because they are too smart for their own good.  I can tell you that is case here.  He has compensated so well with everything else; he really has no need to talk.  Hence, why we are where we are.  He does mimic well.  That means he’ll say the word at therapy, but the question is if he actually retains any of it.  So far, we haven’t.

This will probably be a long process and we’ll just have to take it one word at a time. . .

A note to my husband . . .

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Dear Husband:

If you kill a spider in the bathtub, please wash it down the drain. I don’t like a morning surprise when I go to climb into the shower. You know I am deathly afraid of spiders. This goes for the sinks too.

Thank you!

Lisa

(Can you guess what happened at my house this morning?  Anybody else afraid of creapy crawlies in their tub?)

March of Dimes March For Babies

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

My sister over at Karebear Central is walking in Walk America this weekend up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Since we are in the middle of a remodeling project, the kids and I aren’t going up there. However, I would love to surprise her and help her raise money for such a great cause!

I truly believe that without the research the March Of Dimes has done, my kids would not be here. I had preterm labor issues with both of my children. If they (the doctors) wouldn’t have been able to stop it, my kids would have been born too early and probably would not have survived. My cousins two children were born extremely premature. Her daughter was only 3 lbs when born.

If you ask around your friends and family, you will be amazed at how many people you know that have benefited from the March of Dimes and their research. With that in mind, please consider donating to March of Dimes March For Babies. All those who donate will be included get a link from both me on this blog and a link from my sister on her blog. For anyone who donates $20 or more, I will also write a review about your blog (or whatever you want) over on my Lisa Reviews blog. Leave me a comment if you donate. Thanks!!!!
