Summer Hair
All the girls know what I am talking about, right? Nothing is worse than when it is super hot out and your hair is clinging to you. It is just gross feeling. Something I have been meaning to do for a long time is cut my hair.

Now, this picture was taken in April, and it is the best one I could find showing how long my hair was. I was at the point that it just didn’t look good anymore. I was always putting it up in a pony tail, and I was just sick of long hair. With summer right here now, I decided it was time for a change. Want to know the easiest way to learn how to lose weight? Cut about six inches off your hair.

Can you see the difference? My head feels lighter, my showers take half the time as they did before, and I love it! I haven’t had shorter in hair in forever, and it is great. Granted, this picture was taken after sitting in the car for 4 hours driving home from Green Bay, so it doesn’t look the greatest, but you can see the difference.
So what do you think?
Fathers Day Ideas
With all the craziness in my life right now, I am still worried about what to get my dad and husband for Father’s Day. Since Bill didn’t get me anything for Mother’s Day, I am considering not getting him anything. LOL. On a more serious note, I’ve been checking out my most favorite website ever: Best Buy. As my long time readers know, my family and I could live at Best Buy for the amount of time we spend there. (I have a credit card bill from there that can prove it too!). I was searching for some ideas and have come up of a couple we could all use.
The first thing I liked was the Zune MP3 Player. This thing is awesome. It has 80 GB of space. You can get 20,000 songs or 25,000 pictures, or 250 hours of video. If you have this much to put on there, you really need to get out more. As you can tell, you can pretty much put your whole life on there. It only weighs 4.5 oz, so it is seriously lightweight. It supports MP3, WMA, secure WMA and AAC for audio formats, displays JPEG for image formats, and WMV, MPEG-4 and H.264 for video formats. Its built in battery always up to 30 hours of music playback and 4 hours photo and video playback per charge. I don’t know a dad who wouldn’t want this for Father’s Day. Heck, I’m a mom who wouldn’t mind getting one of these.
Another cool Father’s Day item would have to be this Insignia® – Sport Video MP3 Player with Bluetooth Technology and Fitness Bundle. This would be great for anyone (not only dads!) that are into fitness. You get both a both a sports arm band and a water bottle for use while you’re exercising. Bill could even use this when he’s doing work on the house! The MP3 player has 2 GB memory and a 1.7″ color LCD screen. It also has a FM radio tuner. One of the coolest features that it has is the ability to remember songs you hear by saving track/artist data from FM radio stations broadcasting RDS data. The battery allows 25 hours of playback time too.
Both these items any father would love. I am pretty sure I am getting Bill the sports video MP3 player (yes, I know he wants a plasma tv, but that’s just not going to happen this year!). I could seriously go on for a while with all the great products that Best Buy has to choose from for Father’s Day. What do you plan on buying for the “father” in your life?
I am not JUST a mommy blogger
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl and a handsome prince. They dated a long time (well, 5 years) before they got married. Once married, they have 2 beautiful and wonderful children. The beautiful girl decided to stay home with her children instead of going back to work and became a blogger. Nothing bad ever happens, and they are all very happy and lived happily ever after.
Back to reality now — somewhere out there the mommy blogger (aka the beautiful girl) got a bad rap. Instead of being considered for the advertising powerhouse she is, mothers are left in the dust. We hear comments like “Well, you’re JUST a mommy blogger” and that statement should mean that we are dumb and stupid. At least, that’s how I take it. I am not sure who decided that when you leave the hospital after giving birth that you leave your brain and everything else behind. I do not understand how I lose the rest of my identity just because I am a mom.
I know that I am not the best mommy blogger out there. I wouldn’t put myself on top of any list. I can’t spell without spell check. I have no PR (thanks Google!) and a fairly decent Alexa rating. I run two other blogs, am an admin on one forum and a moderator on another (all nonpaid), and I even have a college degree. I do freelance work for different companies when they need. I actually picked up my last freelance position when I went to BlogWorld. I stopped at a booth and had about a 45 minute conversation with the guy who is now my boss. I have two small children, so my free time can be somewhat limited. I do most of my work at night. I couldn’t tell you the last time I went to bed before midnight (When you have kids, scheduling just doesn’t work). That being said, I average between 200 – 300 unique visits a day on this blog. Somebody likes and values my opinion on things. They don’t seem to think I am JUST a mommy blogger.
That is why I don’t understand the put down. If I was the moron that statement implies, no one would want to read my blog. I wouldn’t get daily emails asking me for help on doing things. I wouldn’t have advertisers asking me to review their products. Also, it still surprises me that more advertisers don’t tap into the mommy market. I know I would buy a product recommended from another mother before I would just from reading a review in a magazine. That is why I really ended up starting Lisa Reviews. I own the toys and the books I am reviewing. I am just passing along some of the winners we have had (and a couple of the loser things too!).
I guess what I am really trying to say that mommy bloggers need to unite. We need to stand up for ourselves more and help one another out instead of tearing one another down. We need to stick up for each another when someone makes this asinine statement. I know this won’t bring about world peace, but it would definitely give the power back to us. We can do more than most would like to give us credit for.
I am not sure where this statement comes from: “I am woman; hear me roar”. However, I’d like to change it to: “I am a mommy blogger, hear me roar” instead.
(Side note: if you change mommy to paid blogger the same argument applies)
