Having Fun

I recently had the opportunity to review a S107G Mini Gyro.  In plain English, it is a remote controlled helicopter.  While the review is over on Lisa Reviews, I wanted to talk about it over here too just due to the amount of fun my kids and our family has had with it.  It is oftentimes hard to find something that interests everyone.  The S107G Mini Gyro does just that:

We brought this over to Bill’s brothers house for a small get together they had over the holiday weekend.  What amazed me most was that everybody tried it — even my mother-in-law!  (She flew it over my brother-in-law’s house!).  I taped in the house due to the wind.  It was super windy outside when I was trying to tape, and it wouldn’t take off.  However, my brother-in-law’s house is set up perfect for flying helicopters.  I think everybody took a try at this. I do have a word of caution though — we lost the back propeller when it crashed into the deck (so be careful around decks).  We think it went between the planks.  The best part is that it comes with a spare, so our helicopter still works.  icon smile Having Fun

My kids can fly this too.  Bill has to help them a bit, but they do a pretty good job.  Will’s birthday party is this weekend — do you think everybody is going to play with it again?  I do!

The Syma S107G is one of those things that everybody enjoys.  I recommend it for any upcoming gifts you may have (or just get one for yourself!). Thanks again to XenonProject.com for sending us the RC helicopter to review!

Worst Dream Ever

Okay, maybe it wasn’t.  Maybe it was just because we don’t have a memory foam mattress.  I don’t know, but this dream definitely ranks in the top ten for bad.

Now, I’ve had your run of the mill bad dreams before.  Everybody has those.  I do not even normally remember those.  It is the dreams that cut to the core that freak you out — it is the dreams about your kids.  I have dreamed I have had a miscarriage (while I was pregnant and since I had one before that it was a little freaky), I’ve dreamed that one of my kids died before, but last night ranks up their with both of these.  I dreamed that Will had a grand mal seizure.

Now, Will doesn’t have epilepsy.  The only seizure he has had in his life, I was on plane when it happened (he was home with my mother in law.  Let’s just say that babysitting job didn’t pay well enough for what happened).  It was ruled as an abnormal febrile seizure, and he’s never had one since.

I’m afraid to google to see what it means.  LOL  However, I just can’t figure out where that came from.  We spent the day at Great America yesterday with the kids, and they had a blast.  I was dead tired when we came home.  I didn’t even the mattress toppers on my bed last night; I’m pretty sure I was asleep before my head hit the pillows!

So anybody want to take a stab at the meaning behind this dream?

Kids Update!

We have had a busy weekend, so I have not had a chance to update you all about the kids doctors’ appointment on Friday.  I had my mother-in-law come with because both kids had an appointment, and they both needed shots.  I am not dumb; I brought reinforcements.  icon smile Kids Update!

Let’s start with Madison.  She is 44 1/2 lbs and 42 3/4 inches tall.  Again, she is off the charts for her height.  Obvioiusly, she does not get that from me.  (I’m only 5′ 2″).  I brought Madison in for a dual reason.  She needed the second part of her Hepatis A vaccine, and her preschool teachers wanted me to talk to her doctor.  We are not sure if its a hearing issue, an ADHD issue, an ADD issue, or she’s just a four year old.  I haven’t posted about this since I wasn’t sure how I felt about the whole thing.  They tell me that you can’t get her to pay attention unless you have her full attention (I swear she learned the selective hearing thing her father has).  However, she’s always done with her worksheets first, and they told me she’s really smart.  The doctor said it is way too early to even be thinking ADD or ADHD, and from what I have told her, there is nothing she sees at this point that it is an issue.  She did tell me to call the school and have them test her hearing.  There is no harm in doing that.  Basically, Madison got a clean bill of health.  She did end up with 4 shots instead of one though!  She got the Hepatitis A and flu shot.  They also gave her 2 shots that she normally would have gotten at her 5 year old check up.  Basically, it was get 4 shots when I had someone there to help or wait till she turns five and have a huge problem.  Once the shots were over, she was fine.

Will had his 15 month checkup (whoops — he’s almost 16 months).  He is 26 lbs 2 oz and 32 1/2 inches long.  His weight is in the 75th percentile, and his height is in the 90th percentile.  Madison was always off the charts with her height, so these stats don’t surprise me at all.  Will ended up with 2 shots and a lead test.  He is right on schedule for all his milestones, so the doctor is happy with his progress too.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.
