Wave At The Bus

Who doesn’t like embarrassing their kids? When the high school’s bus routes changed this year, 16-year-old Rain Price soon found out he’d be going right past his house every single morning. Much to his chagrin, he also found out his dad would be standing outside, waving. But his dad raised it a level and dressed up. Every. Single. Day. His mom took pictures every day, and they created a blog called Wave At The Bus, so the rest of us could enjoy them. However, it’ll take you about an hour to get through all those pictures on the blog (trust me on that one!), so somebody made an awesome video of all the costumes he wore:

Now, they had their own rules made up. He couldn’t repeat a costume. His son also didn’t know from day to day what he was going to be. He left the house at 7:10 and the bus drove past their home at 7:14, so he didn’t have a lot of time to get ready. They spent about $50 over the entire school year for these costumes. The neighbors actually got into the mix and gave them ideas and materials too!

Would you do this to your kids? What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve done to your kids or what did your parents do to you?

My Bucket List

I know we’ve all seen the movie (okay for those who haven’t, its about 2 men who are dying who make a list about the things they want to do before they –wait for it– kick the bucket. Hence, the bucket list.). You’ll find thing on a bucket list like skydiving, riding in a race car, etc.

I bring this up, because Bill and I created a bucket list for our yard.  It’s everything we want to do.  I have trees I’d like to cut down.  My front porch needs to be replaced (anybody got about $10,000?  That’s all I need to tear down the ugly tiny porch we do have, and we’d love to create a wrap around porch around the front of the house).  Bill wants to put in a driveway (since we don’t have one, because we have an alley that runs on the side of our house.  (Our garage kicks out into the alley).  I’d like a new garage.  We are currently creating a flower bed along the side of our neighbors fence, since when they replace the fence, we can’t get grass to grow over there anymore!  I’d love for somebody else to do this for me.  :)  It’s a ton of work, but if it looks as good as it does in my head, it’ll be worth it in the end.

I know my yard bucket list isn’t as exciting as skydiving. However, it’s all stuff we hope to do someday. Do you have bucket list for your yard?
