Back from the weekend and some surprises

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

My nephew was baptized today and we just got home (we stopped off at Bill’s parents to wish them a Happy Father’s Day on the way home).  Its about 11 o’clock, and we had an awesome surprise on our answering machine!  There was an article about me and blogging in my local newspaper!  I’ll be honest — I feel a little dorky, but Bill thinks it is pretty awesome.

I’ve got some great pictures from the baptism (as Madison said, it’s kinda like a bath.) and I’ll get them up tomorrow!  We had a great time and spent some time at Bay Beach (in Green Bay) on Saturday, and I’ll post some of those too!  Till tomorrow!

Big Top Circus aka My House

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Does your home feel like a circus too?  I know mine does.  There are many changes I am hoping to do in 2009 that will make it even less of a zoo here.  First, I am hoping to become more organized.  Right now, we have paperwork from one end of the house to the other.  Instead of just stacking it and then filing it when I am good and ready, my goal is to actually file it right away.  Then I don’t have to worry about losing it.  Next, I am hoping to save more.  This will be interesting and hard.  With Bill’s new car and possible school tutition for Madison, that may wipe us clean in a crappy economy.  However, we’ve made it this far. I already cut coupons and if need be, we will start cutting the extras like cable and my daily newspaper.  However, I am keeping my hopes and I think 2009 will be a great year!

What are your plans to make your life less of a circus in 2009?

Loving my Sun Times

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

I blogged recently on Lisa Reviews about how much I can’t stand the Chicago Tribune.  Yes, my favorite paper since I moved down here has made me cancel my subscription.  I know, hard to believe.  I have been through many, many, many changes to the look of the paper.  However, this last one I cannot stand.  It drives me nuts to the point that I swear its giving me acne. I can’t find the sections that I like.  I swear there is less content.  Some of pages look like a blog page which would be fine if I was looking at a blog.  However, I read the newspaper for more content not less.  My husband has always wanted me to subscribe to the Chicago Sun Times, so I finally did.  Today, our first paper came, and I loved it!  Their articles had real content and weren’t just all pictures.  I could easily find what I was looking for.  I only have two complaints.  I am not sure how I am going to share the paper with Bill.  We tend to read it at the same time.  The other problem I see is that I get less coupons.  However, the Chicago Sun Times is a third of the cost of the Tribune, so at least I am saving money there.  If I remember, I’ll just ask my mom to keep her coupons, and I’ll go through them when we go up to Green Bay.
