Sick and Sicker

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I didn’t drop off the face of the earth.  I swear.  Instead, everyone in my house has decided to get sick including me.  Seriously.  I started with Will and his nasty cough that was keeping him up all night.  He still has the nasty cough a week later, but it’s not keeping him up.  Then we had me and my runny nose/sore throat.  Mine is off and on and more annoying than anything else.  Lastly, we have Madison.  Oh my Madison.  If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know what happened.  She threw up.  Now, if you read my blog regularly, you’ll know what happens when Madison throws up.  We end up in the hospital.  That’s been our life when this happens.  However, remember, we met with her geneticist, and we had a game plan.  Guess what?  The game plan worked!  We kept her hydrated with the special concoction we had to make for her.  She already has went back to school and no hospital visit!  Now, we have to manage to not get the flu again.  To make up for my blogging delay, here’s a picture of Bill and I on Halloween:

Crazy, crazy world

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

I am trying to get all my work done, because we are going away this weekend. That’s a lot easier said than done. We are still working on the potty training. I let Will go diaperless yesterday morning, and he peed on my floor 3 times before noon. Needless to say, we won’t be trying that again. He is interested in sitting on the potty, so we’ll just have to keep doing that. I’ve got a ton of great reviews coming up over at Lisa Reviews.  That’s what my goal is to get done today — write about 20 reviews to get caught up and have great giveaways for my readers.  My problem is that I swear I am ADD or ADHD.  I get easily distracted by shiny things like Twitter.  At a minimum, I am hoping to get enough reviews written to post through the weekend, and I’ll start trying to catch up again next week.

I’ve already started packing for another weekend in Green Bay.  Yes, we were there last weekend.  However, that was for a boys camping trip.  This weekend we will be going to my family reunion and my cousin’s graduation party.  It’s kinda funny — last weekend, I packed jeans and sweatshirts.  This weekend it’s suppose to be 95!  I’m get sick of this crazy weather.

Well, off to get some work done.  Have a great weekend!

How to ask for help . . .

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Something we have been struggling with is if Will is behind in his speaking.  I’ve talked about it on Twitter and to my friends, but not on here yet.  We definitely know he is behind.  I mean we aren’t expecting him to say “hey mom, take me to a musical instrument shop” or “buy electric guitar“. However, he’s only got about 10 – 15 words. He’s two. Depending on where I read, he should have 30 – 50 words.  We aren’t even close to that.

It’s hard.  Madison was always ahead of her milestones.  She also talked early and a lot, so it has been very hard for us to gauge.  The turning point for me is that my mom and Bill’s mom have both mentioned several times to us that he doesn’t talk.  He also does something very odd with his mouth.  You know how Popeye talks out of the side of his mouth.  Will does that a lot.  He also makes that face when he’s not talking.  I can’t tell if it’s a bad habit or if there is a problem.  I do have to add that he is slightly tongue tied, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it either.

We have a wellness visit set up on July 13th for him (and a school physical for Madison).  I will be definitely asking for a referral for services.  Bill thinks he will grow out of it and catch up.  My thoughts are to get a professional look at him, and let them determine whether we have a problem.

If anybody has any experience with anything like this, I would love to hear your experience.  Any advice would be helpful too!
