No More Making Money Off Twitter

From Twitter today:

For this reason, aside from Promoted Tweets, we will not allow any third party to inject paid tweets into a timeline on any service that leverages the Twitter API.

What does this mean? If you are a user of sites like Sponsored Tweets, then you can’t use them anymore unless they change how they operate.  Twitter’s post doesn’t explain who they are going after — I’m guessing its the companies making money.  My problem with Promoted Tweets is that it doesn’t do the user any good — just big name companies with open pockets.  I don’t make a cent off of it, Twitter does.  I don’t know — it seems to cross the line into stealing content because I don’t think they ask your permission or anything to use a Tweet you’ve done and turn it into a promoted tweet (I could be wrong and if I am please correct me).

That being said — I’ve added a new category to my advertising/media kit.  If you are a company looking for somebody to Twitter for you (I’ve got over 20,000 followers!), please head over there!

Can I Have Some Galena With My Wine? Part 1

For those who don’t follow me on Twitter or Facebook (and if you don’t, why not?), I was invited by the CVB to go check out Galena.  Galena, where?  Galena, IL.  I actually drove through here once a long, long, long time ago to go to a wedding.  We didn’t stop.  And now I am seriously kicking myself in the butt that we didn’t.

Part 1 Going into this trip, I really had no idea what to expect.  I went with 8 other bloggers — some I kinda knew, some I met for the first time.  I didn’t even really know the people I carpooled with.  However, after a 3 hour drive, it was like we were long lost friends.  To be honest, the whole weekend felt that way.  It was like we all had known each other for years.  We met at the Convention and Visitors Bureau and that was the start of our great adventure!

One of the girls went on google and mapped out our course. It was like 3 miles of walking. All up hill. icon smile Can I Have Some Galena With My Wine? Part 1 Ok, it just felt like the majority of it was uphill.) was Grant’s Home. It’s a historical site. Back in the day, they (the Grants) were given this home after the civil war. I think they stayed in it about 18 months. It was very cool to see how people lived back in the day.

However, a couple of the girls were looking through the windows, and we were invited in!  We got a quick history about what they did there.  The cool thing is that this Blacksmith Shop is still open!  They do work for local residents besides showing us tourists what they do!

From here we went to get our super yummy lunch from Cannova’s.  Delicious doesn’t describe how good this food really was!  Here’s a little sneak preview of what we ate there:

That’s the end of part one. I’ll be adding on what else we did in Galena. I’ll also be reviewing each place in more detail over at Lisa’s Travels.  Happy Reading!

Sick and Sicker

I didn’t drop off the face of the earth.  I swear.  Instead, everyone in my house has decided to get sick including me.  Seriously.  I started with Will and his nasty cough that was keeping him up all night.  He still has the nasty cough a week later, but it’s not keeping him up.  Then we had me and my runny nose/sore throat.  Mine is off and on and more annoying than anything else.  Lastly, we have Madison.  Oh my Madison.  If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know what happened.  She threw up.  Now, if you read my blog regularly, you’ll know what happens when Madison throws up.  We end up in the hospital.  That’s been our life when this happens.  However, remember, we met with her geneticist, and we had a game plan.  Guess what?  The game plan worked!  We kept her hydrated with the special concoction we had to make for her.  She already has went back to school and no hospital visit!  Now, we have to manage to not get the flu again.  To make up for my blogging delay, here’s a picture of Bill and I on Halloween:
