My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

From Twitter today:

For this reason, aside from Promoted Tweets, we will not allow any third party to inject paid tweets into a timeline on any service that leverages the Twitter API.

What does this mean? If you are a user of sites like Sponsored Tweets, then you can’t use them anymore unless they change how they operate. Twitter’s post doesn’t explain who they are going after — I’m guessing its the companies making money. My problem with Promoted Tweets is that it doesn’t do the user any good — just big name companies with open pockets. I don’t make a cent off of it, Twitter does. I don’t know — it seems to cross the line into stealing content because I don’t think they ask your permission or anything to use a Tweet you’ve done and turn it into a promoted tweet (I could be wrong and if I am please correct me).

That being said — I’ve added a new category to my advertising/media kit. If you are a company looking for somebody to Twitter for you (I’ve got over 20,000 followers!), please head over there!

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

For those who don’t follow me on Twitter or Facebook (and if you don’t, why not?), I was invited by the CVB to go check out Galena. Galena, where? Galena, IL. I actually drove through here once a long, long, long time ago to go to a wedding. We didn’t stop. And now I am seriously kicking myself in the butt that we didn’t.

Going into this trip, I really had no idea what to expect. I went with 8 other bloggers — some I kinda knew, some I met for the first time. I didn’t even really know the people I carpooled with. However, after a 3 hour drive, it was like we were long lost friends. To be honest, the whole weekend felt that way. It was like we all had known each other for years. We met at the Convention and Visitors Bureau and that was the start of our great adventure!
The first place we walked (and we walked and walked and walked some more for the majority of the things we did. One of the girls went on google and mapped out our course. It was like 3 miles of walking. All up hill. Ok, it just felt like the majority of it was uphill.) was Grant’s Home. It’s a historical site. Back in the day, they (the Grants) were given this home after the civil war. I think they stayed in it about 18 months. It was very cool to see how people lived back in the day.

From there we checked out The Old Blacksmith Shop. This actually wasn’t on our stop list. However, a couple of the girls were looking through the windows, and we were invited in! We got a quick history about what they did there. The cool thing is that this Blacksmith Shop is still open! They do work for local residents besides showing us tourists what they do!

From here we went to get our super yummy lunch from Cannova’s. Delicious doesn’t describe how good this food really was! Here’s a little sneak preview of what we ate there:

That’s the end of part one. I’ll be adding on what else we did in Galena. I’ll also be reviewing each place in more detail over at Lisa’s Travels. Happy Reading!

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

I am trying to get all my work done, because we are going away this weekend. That’s a lot easier said than done. We are still working on the potty training. I let Will go diaperless yesterday morning, and he peed on my floor 3 times before noon. Needless to say, we won’t be trying that again. He is interested in sitting on the potty, so we’ll just have to keep doing that. I’ve got a ton of great reviews coming up over at Lisa Reviews. That’s what my goal is to get done today — write about 20 reviews to get caught up and have great giveaways for my readers. My problem is that I swear I am ADD or ADHD. I get easily distracted by shiny things like Twitter. At a minimum, I am hoping to get enough reviews written to post through the weekend, and I’ll start trying to catch up again next week.

I’ve already started packing for another weekend in Green Bay. Yes, we were there last weekend. However, that was for a boys camping trip. This weekend we will be going to my family reunion and my cousin’s graduation party. It’s kinda funny — last weekend, I packed jeans and sweatshirts. This weekend it’s suppose to be 95! I’m get sick of this crazy weather.

Well, off to get some work done. Have a great weekend!

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

Something we have been struggling with is if Will is behind in his speaking. I’ve talked about it on Twitter and to my friends, but not on here yet. We definitely know he is behind. I mean we aren’t expecting him to say “hey mom, take me to a musical instrument shop” or “buy electric guitar“. However, he’s only got about 10 – 15 words. He’s two. Depending on where I read, he should have 30 – 50 words. We aren’t even close to that.

It’s hard. Madison was always ahead of her milestones. She also talked early and a lot, so it has been very hard for us to gauge. The turning point for me is that my mom and Bill’s mom have both mentioned several times to us that he doesn’t talk. He also does something very odd with his mouth. You know how Popeye talks out of the side of his mouth. Will does that a lot. He also makes that face when he’s not talking. I can’t tell if it’s a bad habit or if there is a problem. I do have to add that he is slightly tongue tied, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it either.

We have a wellness visit set up on July 13th for him (and a school physical for Madison). I will be definitely asking for a referral for services. Bill thinks he will grow out of it and catch up. My thoughts are to get a professional look at him, and let them determine whether we have a problem.

If anybody has any experience with anything like this, I would love to hear your experience. Any advice would be helpful too!
