My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

That’s my life in a nutshell. It started Friday night when Madison left Daddy/Daughter date night after an hour, because she didn’t feel good. (Now, Will had the flu when everybody had snow days). I was at a 31 show (kinda like a purse party), and by the time I got home, she had thrown up. No sleep Friday night because well, she threw up all Friday night. Trust me, after not sleeping all night, I was probably babbling on about horse insurance services. Bill was suppose to relieve me and didn’t. Her last throwing up was at midnight Saturday night (or would that be Sunday morning). However, she is showing keytones in her urine. Now, if you read me regularly, you’ll know that this is what gets her trouble. We need to get those to 0. If we don’t keep an eye on them and they spike, we are in the hospital with her. Good times, let me tell you. I’ve tested more pee in the last couple of days . . .Right now, we can’t seem to get her out of the Small range. We sometimes end up with trace. However, she ate an entire can of soup herself for dinner and she had a sandwich for lunch, so I;m hoping that helps. If not, I think I may have to call the pediatrician, and see what to do next. She’s not spiking, but she isn’t going down either. However, today was her first day of eating real food, so that has got to make a difference. Well, Sunday morning rolled around and Bill started throwing up. I held off till Sunday afternoon. It was so bad that we sent Will to grandma’s house. There was no way we were going to be able to get him to school when I couldn’t even sit up without getting sick. I spent most of today in bed with the most horrible headache known to man. You could have sold me anything from cheap horse insurance to a brand new car if it would have gotten rid of my migraine. It was horrible. Napping actually made it worse (I didn’t think that was possible).

However, I think we are all on the mend now (I hope!). I’ve still got a headache though manageable. Madison is eating, so we are hoping for 0 keytones in the morning so I can send her to school! Will’s still at grandma’s so hopefully we can get him back home tomorrow too.

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

Most of what we needed this morning was to leave (okay, that’s what I needed). As you may have read from my previous post, we had a rough morning here. I brought him to the chiropractor, and she even said he seemed a bit off. I ended up calling the pediatrician who thinks what I did: he has a touch of the flu. Since he seems fine between throw ups, just keep an eye on him and give him pedialyte instead of formula. Since we have been doing this for almost 2 days, he should be on the tail end of this.

As of right now, we are still going to do Madison’s birthday party. He seems to be okay. The food is bought and thawed out (the ham). We are calling everyone and just letting them know the situation. They can make the decision if they want to come. I left a message for my family up in Wisconsin since they haven’t left yet and just are awaiting their calls. He could be over all of this by tomorrow, so I hate to call it all off.

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings - A day in the life of a busy mom . . .

Unfortunately what just happened to my friend Angie is why free hosting is bad. Granted, I started out on a blogger blog. I fought getting my own domain for a very long time. However, since I do some paid blogging, it was in my best interest to move. I have not regretted it at all. I have made more money, because I have my own domain.

At any time, a free host can change the rules on you. Here’s what happened to Angie:

She had written on her blog about going to her grandmother’s funeral and commented that she may give her “daughter Benadryl during a long car ride (as a substitution for her daily non-drowsy allergy meds and as a way to curb her anxiety and car sickness – as suggested by my pediatrician, BTW).” The person hosting her blog for free decided that they did not like what she wrote and took her blog offline. This person also disabled her logins to her other blogs.

Supposably this is just a 2 week suspension. However, Angie is a paid blogger. This means she will not get paid for a lot of her paid posts. Angie is also a single mom, so this money is needed. I am not going to name who the host is just yet in case this person decides to give her control back. Trust me, once everything gets fixed, I will name names. To quote Angie again: “I would have gladly removed a single post if the owner of the domain had an issue with it (or even accepted the suspension to write further entries if the blog would at least be left online), despite the policy of removing posts, deleting blogs, or suspending blogs not being part of the TOS.”

This is why anybody on a free service needs to get their own domain. Whether you are a paid blogger or not, you do not want your work pulled out from under you. I know, some of you are saying that I’m on blogger, I have nothing to worry about. Wrong. I know of people whose blogs were pulled off there for no good reason. It took a long time before they got Google to reinstate them too.

Who should you go to? Well, that depends on your needs. Personally, I use BlueHost (You can see their badge in my sidebar). I love them. They have 24/7 support, and I never have had a problem with them. I am not sure who Angie ended up going with.

Lastly, I ask that you all check out Angie’s new blogs: One Clear Dot and Girly Things. Even with all this crap going on, she still has her “voice”. Her blogging style has not changed. Her blogs are still a great read. Go check them out and show her some blogger’s love.
