With A Little Help From My Friends
We’ve had a rough couple weeks here at the crazy house. It started mostly with my face infection. Mostly that is all cleared up. However, the sty that caused all this to begin with is still there. They are trying to avoid sending me to surgery, so I’m doing weekly follow-ups. Madison now has an eye that’s pink, so we are having to keep an eye on that. It’s not pink eye. Yet. I have to give her eye drops so I get to pin her down twice a day to do that. Good times. NOT.
One of the things I need to do or my eye will never heal is get my stress level down. That’s easier said than done. And that’s where all of you come in. I need some advice to destress. I’m sick of yelling at everybody all the time.
One step we did take towards this is that we had a dog trainer come yesterday. Honestly, that was the best money I think we’ve ever spent. I literally was having to quarantine me and kids in a different part of the house than Daisy. We did everything everybody told us to get her to stop jumping and nipping at the kids. She also was doing it to Bill and me. With me, if I told her no, she threw a growl in there. Needless to say, I was not pleased. We were at the point that something had to change or Daisy was going. It’s amazing what one hour with a dog trainer will do for you. He gave me some great tips and I had to buy a new collar.
Okay, readers — how do I destress? If it involves alcohol, please include the recipe.
An Eye For An Eye
Remember that sty on my eye? The one I got before we went camping. The one that gave me pink eye. Well, guess what — it’s giving me problems. Bad ones.
I still have said sty. However, my eye lid started to swell up the other day. Back to the eye doctor. My sty is now morphed into a soft tissue infection. We thought an oral antibiotic would solved the problem. Well, my face got worse. By face, I mean my whole face. Well, the one side of my face. If I walk into the heat, my right side of my face swells up and my eye swells shut. I learned this the hard way — picking Madison up from camp. I freaked a little bit and immediately drove to the eye doctor.
Pretty much, I have an infection in my face now. I’m stuck instead with air conditioning and am stuck putting ice packs on my face to control the swelling. We are in a holding pattern and hoping the antibiotic finally kicks in and starts working.
Anybody want to trade lives right now?
Update: Eyeball
I managed not to stick a fork in my eye last night until I got to my eye doctor appointment. Unfortunately, Tuesdays and Thursday are big driving days for me due to taking and picking up Madison from preschool. The good news is that I don’t have to start looking for cheap auto insurance, because I got us there and back in one piece. Madison did get a letter sent home by her teacher’s that the morning class had a case of pink eye.
I went to my eye appointment last night and guess what I have. Pink Eye! No contacts for the next week, and I now have eye drops. Knocking on wood that nobody else in the house gets this!
