Spock
No, not the Star Trek character. Spock is the newest search engine out there. However, it is not like anything you have seen before. It doesn’t search the internet like all the other search engines. Instead, it is a people search engine. You are able to enter in people’s names and see what comes up. For example, if you enter Johnny Depp, you get the Johnny Depp we all know and love. However, you also can see all the people with the unfortunate (or is it fortunate?) name also. You can also see the people that have tags as Johnny Depp. Well, each person also has tags assigned to them. Johnny’s are actor, Pirates of the Caribbean, actor television, actor American, talented, film actor, John Christopher Depp II — just to name a few. Anybody can tags to each person on here. You can also add photographs of them too! You can also add this really cool widget to your site:

This is one of the easiest ways to look for information on any person — famous or not. It is also interest how you can see how people are interrelated with one another. I guess you could play the Kevin Bacon game with this (you know, how many degrees of separation between you or a famous actor and Kevin Bacon.) For example, between Al Gore and myself, there are only 2 degrees. My first cousin is married to his first cousin. On Spock, you can also set up connections, so that people you know or like show up first in your results. While looking at your results, there are two sections that you definitely need to check out. They are the On the Web and news. These give you up to date information on the person you are searching. Now, you can getting your hands on everything about your favorite actor (or actress)!

Spock
Having just come from Vegas, I had to chuckle when I saw the new people search engine called Spock. Why am I laughing? Well, the Hilton had a Star Trek experience that I had to walk past every single day. However, Spock.com is nothing like that. This is a people search engine. You can put it any name and see what it pulls up on that person. I am not going to do my name, but I will try out some other famous people. I know that I get a lot of search engine hits on Hannah Montana, so we will start with her.
Since Hannah Montana’s real name is Miley Cyrus that is actually what gets pulled up. However, you are able to tag people with keywords and one of her keywords is Hannah Montana. She currently has thirty five tags, sixteen picture and four related people associated with her. Spock also lists three very recent new stories on her and a bunch of other sites on the web that talk about her. You are able to add whatever tags you want and remove ones that really do not fit. You are also able to upload pictures of the person you are searching too. Here is a cool widget that you can put on your site for any person search you do:
I still can’t believe that I am twice her age, and she has made more money than I ever will. Another search I did was on Drunk Driving. You can see all of the celebrities that have been arrested for this offense. Guess who the number one person listed is! Paris Hilton followed by George Bush then Lindsay Lohan. I should not find it mildly amusing, but I do.
I could spend all day checking people out. I did do a search on myself, Brad Pitt, my husband, and a ton more people. Instead of Googling people, Spock them instead!
