Frosted Flakes Plant A Seed
In January, Mom Central and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes worked on a joint venture together letting us all know about their Earn Your Stripes Renovation program. This is aimed at renovating neighborhood sports fields around the nation (which is a great cause). Thousands of fields were entered (with some with as many as 700,000 supporters). Though it was tough, Kellogg’s has narrowed it down to 100 finalists, and it is up to you now.
Yes, you. From May 1st – May 31st, head over to Frosted Flakes and vote for your favorite finalist. The semifinalist fields were chosen based on the feasibility of the field makeover, the location and age of the field, how often it gets used, how many events take place, what teams use it, the number of other athletic fields in the community, the demand, condition, and the impact field renovation would have on the community. Having voted myself, there are so many good fields to vote for that you will have a hard time voting for just one(I know I did).

Brett Favre Retires . . . Again

- Image via Wikipedia
Being from Green Bay, I like to keep tabs on my favorite quarterback. I was very surprised to come across the news that Brett Favre is retiring. Again. I have to admit, I hope he stays retired this time.
“Mike and Woody, as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding,” Favre said in the e-mail. “My teammates — Thomas and Kerry included — were a pleasure to play with. Eric [Mangini] could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I’m honored to be given that chance.”

Weekend Plans
We have a very busy weekend ahead of us. Our original plan was to finally finish putting the basement together. We still have a ton of crap in the garage that needs to come in, pictures need to be hung, totes need to be gone through and put away, wall plates need to be put up, etc. However, Bill got invited to a gold outing, so he’ll be doing that all day Saturday! My parents are coming down too, so my dad will be going with him golfing. My mom and I will be stuck with the kids, so I don’t think we will be doing any shopping. However, I think I may try and go into the attic and pull out the kids winter clothes. It is October, so it needs to be done. My only fear is that the minute I put their summer clothes away, it will get warm again. I’m just not sure what we will do with the rest of the time.
