Talking Turkey & Help Me Please

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I wish I had some great Thanksgiving stories.  However, we normally end up going to somebody elses house for Thanksgiving, so I dont’ have to cook.  Ever.  Honestly, it is nice.  However, this year my parents are coming here for Thanksgiving, so I have to cook my own dinner (with some help from my mom I hope!  Though she won’t be coming up till Thanksgiving day itself, so I may not have as much help as I’d like! They are coming here so I have some company doing some Black Friday shopping (though my mom is refusing to go stand outside at Best Buy at 3 am.  Yes, I am that dedicated.  LOL)

I have a feeling this Thanksgiving I will have a ton of material to post about regarding my experience.  I don’t think Bill and I have ever made a real turkey by ourselves.  That is why its nice to know that Butterball has a Turkey Talk-Line.  You can call 1-800-BUTTERBALL  and talk to their meal preparation experts (writing that phone number down myself), or you can visit Butterball.com for Web chats with a few bloggers – Chris Jordan (Notes from the Trenches), Susan Wagner (Friday Playdate), and Roxanna (Miguelina) on November 11, 18 and 25 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CST.  They will answer all your turkey related questions. Now, if any of you have any advice for me, I’ll gladly take it.  We just won’t tell anyone.  :)

Tieing Up Loose Ends

I still have to write my post about PostieCon.  I swear it is coming.  My goal is to have it written before Thanksgiving, but I have so much to do in the next couple of days.  I also found this picture of Madison that I never posted, because for some reason, it got stuck on the hard drive of my camera:

It would have been a little better if Bill had her centered, but still cute nonetheless.   Here’s Will’s matching picture:

To Hold or Not to Hold

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Do I have the post office hold our mail from our mailboxes while we go away for Thanksgiving? The only mail that should get delivered is Friday and Saturday. I would think it should be okay, but you never know. Most of our bills are sent electronically and majority of what we get is junk mail. Plus, last time I put a hold on our mail, they didn’t do it anyway. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

What are you thankful for?

My Google slap has made me realize that there are many more important things in my life than Google PageRank.  Seriously, there is.  Yes, 4 to a 0 hurt.  However, I have made a list of all the other things I am grateful for:

  • My family.  I have a husband and kids who really don’t care that my blog is a PR0 now.  They care that I am their mom and their wife.  They care that I take part in the day to day things in their life.  They care that I tuck them into bed at night.  They may drive me nuts at times, but I don’t know where I would be without them.
  • My extended family.  Both Bill and I have huge extended families.  It is a good feeling to know that if we need help or a hand that there are so many people there to help us.
  • Advertisers who still have contacted me to do work.  Thank you for understanding that the PR isn’t everything.
  • That I am half done Christmas shopping.  I hate Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving, so I am always happy when I am half done.
  • My online friends.  I have a community of people who care about me that I have never met (some I have now thanks to Blogworld and Postiecon!).  I never realized people who you’ve never met could care so much (for example, when I was pregnant with Will, I took a 3 day break from forum checking and blogging and Julie was worried I had Will already!).  I also have online friends that I have met and some I haven’t that I have also worried about like that too.
  • My health.  I have not had any major problems.  My kids are in good health too.
  • That we have enough money to get through the winter and Christmas.  I know there are a lot of people who worry about this.  We are okay this year, and it is a good feeling.

I know I will be adding onto this list, but this is a good start for what I am thankful for!

TGIF

I swear this has been the longest week ever.  I still need to blog about last weekend, and it is already this weekend.  I think I have been jetlagged all week.  My kids have been driving me bananas, and my house looks like a tornado has went through it.  The bad thing is that we have a semibusy weekend planned and are going to Green Bay for Thanksgiving, so I really need to get this stuff done.  I have all the pictures in Flickr — I just need to blog about it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend planned!
