Snow Day!
It is terrible here in Illinois. This is what my house looks like this morning:
We broke our back door trying to open it this morning. My house is a sheet of ice. We have about 4 inches of snow. On top of that, we have freezing rain, so it is definitely an interesting combination we have going on out there. We watched the traffic report starting quite early this morning, and at this point, Bill isn’t even going to try and go to work. The bad thing is that he left his laptop at work, so he’s trying to do what he can from his cell phone. It actually was hailing and snowing at the same time this morning if you can believe it. We are hoping to take the kids out a tad later and maybe build a snowman. However, the snow is more like ice chunks, so I don’t know how easy that is going to be.
Big Box of Awesomeness
No, it’s not mine. Instead, the Big Box Of Awesomeness is over at Drew’s Blog. This is a box of swag that he wants everyone to guess what’s inside. Now, I think so far we’ve figured out an Izea cup holder and obviously a tshirt (since we can see that). However, I have a hint for you. I know something else that is that box. Want to know what it is?
This is a Magic Frame. You can put 40 4×6 photos into it and be able to switch them in and out at will. Now, Drew is having a contest to see if people can guess what is in his box. You now know one thing — Go enter!!!!
About that mailbox . . .
I’ve never been a big fan of my mailbox. However, it served its purpose till last night. We woke up this morning to our mailbox laying on the ground. Since a lot of my product reviews are sent by the mail, this is a very bad, bad thing. Second problem, it snowed here last night, so the ground is frozen. We think it was hit by the snow plow in the middle of the night (it was still there at 11 pm). The beam that actually holds the mailbox is split. We had to do a horrible fix job in about 20 degree weather today. Bill took some industrial clamps and zip ties and that is the only thing that is holding the beam together. The beam also leans forward pretty bad, so we had to take stakes and pound them into the ground around the base. This looks like the worst white trash mailbox I’ve ever seen, and there is no way to fix this until the ground thaws out. I am hoping to get some pictures of my sorry looking mailbox tomorrow. If anyone has any ideas of how to get new a mailbox into the frozen ground, I am all ears.
