Well, I finally did it. There is a conference there in September that I had registered for months and months ago. However, I was looking for a roommate and hadn’t set up my plane or my hotel yet. However, now it is done. I am using the free Southwest ticket I won at BlogWorld last year to fly there (when I called to set up my flight, the lady was so nice and friendly and even spoke English!). We are going to be staying at the Courtyard Marriott. I found an awesome deal on their website (better than the deal that the conference was getting for us!). I wish I would have time to do some fun playing at the theme parks there, but I have to get back to my kids plus the conference has us booked up. Let me know if you are going to be there too, so we can meet up!

Izeafest . . .here I come
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008We are Back
Saturday, March 1st, 2008I miss sixty degrees and warm weather. We came home to thirty degrees and snow. Yesterday sucked though. We had to drive 2 hours to the airport. Then, we had a four hour flight to Georgia. Then, we had a two hour layover before we hopped a plane to Chicago for another two hours. Needless to say, today we feel pretty bad (I wouldn’t say to the level of having fibromyalgia but man, I feel like my body has been through the ringer). I have had a couple people ask why we flew so weird. Well, the tickets we used were the ones I won on the Rachel Ray show. They were Delta tickets, and this was our only choice for a flight.
Everybody is doing well — just a little tired. I am hoping to get some posts written up this weekend about the trip, so I can show you guys all the cool stuff we did in Arizona. It was a trip in a lifetime, since I cannot see us going back there.
Ticketbuster
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008I luck out that I live in a state that allows you to get rid of a speeding ticket by going to traffic school. They even offer it now that you can do it online. You are allowed to wipe out one ticket from your record every three years. You still do have to pay the fine though. However, if you live in states like California, you can’t do that. You are stuck with a fine or you can go to court and fight it. TicketBust.com is a company that knows how to fight a speeding ticket and will get your ticket reduced or even dismissed or you get your money back. I can see this service coming in handy for several people (who shall remain nameless but you know who you are!) who have a lead foot.
Four Foods On Friday
Thursday, January 24th, 2008Okay, I have been slacking. I keep forgetting to do this meme. Here are the questions for this week:
#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt? Chewy. Doesn’t that sound so yummy?
#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip? I am a miracle whip girl, but the hubby is a mayonnaise man. Yes, we have a jar of each in the house.
#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup? Spinach (I had to look it up though – lol)
#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in. Lasagna:
Ingredients:
1 box (16 oz) lasagna noodles
1 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 eggs
2 lbs ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 jar (48 oz) seasoned tomato sauce
Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 25 minutes
Bake time: 1 hour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook lasagna noodles as package directs; drain and rinse.
Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet, cook sausage and onion till brown. Drain fat. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine eggs, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and basil. Mix well.
Spread a layer of tomato sauce in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish; top with a layer of noodles. Cover noodles with a layer of the cheese mixture; top with some sausage mixture. Cover with a layer of sauce. Repeat layering with noodles, cheese mixture, sausage mixture, and sauce. Top with final layer of noodles and sauce.
Bake covered for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake about 15 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
What I wish he’d understand . . .
Wednesday, November 21st, 2007Bill is an expert on all thing electric (you know, on things like ceiling lighting), but he doesn’t understand the blogging thing. It just irritates me that he doesn’t listen to what I am saying. He doesn’t understand paid links, contextual links, google pagerank, alexa rank, etc. When I told him that I average 200 visitors a day (give or take), he got all upset that 200 people he doesn’t know are reading about our lives. (If I would have thought quick enough, I should have said that he should be proud that 200 people a day care about our lives). I questioned putting my kids pictures on here. I did a ton of thought on it. However, the purpose of this blog originally was to keep my friends and family in Green Bay in the loop to what is going on in our lives. At this point, I don’t know if I could even extract all of that information off of here. It is what makes this blog tick. He doesn’t get that none of you (unless I ask) are going to show up on our doorstep. My question goes out to you — how to you explain blogging to people? How do you explain the hows and the whys?
