Four Foods On Friday

Okay, I have been slacking.  I keep forgetting to do this meme.  Here are the questions for this week:

#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt?  Chewy.  Doesn’t that sound so yummy?
#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip?  I am a miracle whip girl, but the hubby is a mayonnaise man.  Yes, we have a jar of each  in the house.

#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup?  Spinach (I had to look it up though – lol)

#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in.  Lasagna:

Ingredients:

1 box (16 oz) lasagna noodles
1 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 eggs
2 lbs ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 jar (48 oz) seasoned tomato sauce

Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 25 minutes
Bake time: 1 hour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook lasagna noodles as package directs; drain and rinse.

Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet, cook sausage and onion till brown. Drain fat. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a large bowl, combine eggs, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and basil. Mix well.

Spread a layer of tomato sauce in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish; top with a layer of noodles. Cover noodles with a layer of the cheese mixture; top with some sausage mixture. Cover with a layer of sauce. Repeat layering with noodles, cheese mixture, sausage mixture, and sauce. Top with final layer of noodles and sauce.

Bake covered for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake about 15 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

What I wish he’d understand . . .

Bill is an expert on all thing electric (you know, on things like ceiling lighting), but he doesn’t understand the blogging thing.  It just irritates me that he doesn’t listen to what I am saying.  He doesn’t understand paid links, contextual links, google pagerank, alexa rank, etc.  When I told him that I average 200 visitors a day (give or take), he got all upset that 200 people he doesn’t know are reading about our lives.  (If I would have thought quick enough, I should have said that he should be proud that 200 people a day care about our lives).  I questioned putting my kids pictures on here.  I did a ton of thought on it.  However, the purpose of this blog originally was to keep my friends and family in Green Bay in the loop to what is going on in our lives.  At this point, I don’t know if I could even extract all of that information off of here.  It is what makes this blog tick.  He doesn’t get that none of you (unless I ask) are going to show up on our doorstep.  My question goes out to you — how to you explain blogging to people?  How do you explain the hows and the whys?

Sometimes he does do it right . . .

Bill said something to me last night that made my night. Heck, it made my week. It went something like “You haven’t worn shorts in while. You look hot.” Those two little sentences made the difference for a mommy who just had a baby less than 2 weeks ago. Heck, I still don’t fit in my prepregnancy pants. However, it made me feel good which I haven’t for a long time.

He also got up not once but twice with Will last night and let me sleep. I had just feel asleep the first time Will got up to eat. I didn’t know about the second time till this morning at around 5:30 am. I was trying to figure out how long it was since he ate. I had gotten up at 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30 with him. Bill did the 1:30 am feeding without whining or complaining or guilting me. He just did it.

So next time I am bitching about how much he ticked me off about something, please redirect me to this post, so I can remember what a thoughtful caring person he is.
