If you are annoyed by all of the marketing you get without asking for it, here are a few tips on things to do:
Did you know that the Do Not Call list is 5 years old? If you signed up early for this when it came out, you need to sign up again if you do not want the onslaught of telemarketing phone calls. Your first term has expired. I know for me, this list has worked wonders on our telemarketing phone calls. The address to do this is www.donotcall.gov and you can sign up your cell and home phone numbers.
If you want to lessen the amount of catalogs that you get in the mail, visit www.the-dma.org and select “Remove My Name from Mailing Lists”. This site is run by the Direct Marketing Association and will allow your name to removed from their member list. This will only get your name off their members lists, but it should help somewhat.
Do you want to stop all those preapproved credit card offers you get in the mail? I know I don’t even look at them, I just rip them up. Go over to www.optoutprescreen.com and you can fill out a form. The bad thing is that they need your social security number. However, Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union run this, and they already have this on file. It takes about minute to do and you are protected for 5 years.
I hope these tips help you rid yourself of some of the marketing you didn’t ask for.
