Samsung Instinct

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Anyone who follows me on twitter knows I get a new cell phone last week.  First, I twitter that I missed the UPS truck on Thursday.  They wouldn’t come back and deliver, so I was disappointed.  Then the phone came on Friday, and I couldn’t figure out how to get the back off to put the battery in.  Then, due to some glitch in their system, I couldn’t activate my phone for 24 hours.  After all that, I was so ready not to like my new phone.

Instead, I really love it.  I have learned how to text message now (yes, I never knew how before).  I can check my email, surf the web, and even listen to the radio with my phone. I can even watch Live TV! It also takes pictures and videos. Granted, I haven’t learned how to use all these features yet. However, I plan on learning! This is one cool phone. I haven’t need a cell signal booster yet either. My favorite was that when we went to Navy pier on Sunday, it gave us voice directions. It told us what streets to turn on, and I was even able to see the traffic report! I could see on each expressway how fast everyone was going. I thought that was pretty cool. I will probably end up writing a review for the Instinct over at Lisa Reviews after I’ve had it longer than a week, but I have to admit, this is one cool phone.

Lands End Giveaway!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

I love Lands End.  They have some of most stylish clothes at a good price.  They even have plus size items that look good, so they score 2 thumbs up in my book.  I also love that they have a virtual model on their site.  All you have to do is put in your height and weight (there are othere things you can customize too like eye shape and hair color).  You then can pick up clothing to put on your model, and know how that looks on you.  You can exchange out colors, sizes, and pretty much anything else you want.  I could literally spend hours just playing with that.

Now, if you are interested in shopping there for yourself or Christmas, use this coupon code:

Code: OUTERWEAR
Pin: 1013

This code will get you free basic UPS shipping on any order you have from October 13 – October 20.  Now, I know that times are tough.  Lands End knows this also and wants to give one of my readers either a Women’s Half-Zip Pullover or the Women’s Sherpa Fleece. I will let the winner pick which one she would like to receive!  What do you need to do to enter this contest?

Easter Giveaway

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

I wish I was as creative as Corrin is, so I could do giveaways like the above picture.  Alas, I am not, so instead I just enter them instead.   Isn’t that Easter basket awesome?  I personally would want to see lots of chocolate in it.  M&Ms, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you know things like that would be an excellent addition, don’t you think?  I know Bill would want some Peeps in there.  I personally don’t care for them, but he likes to eat them stale.  Ewwwww.  Since my birthday is three days before Easter this year, this would make a good birthday present Corrin (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

Four Foods On Friday

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Okay, I have been slacking.  I keep forgetting to do this meme.  Here are the questions for this week:

#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt?  Chewy.  Doesn’t that sound so yummy?
#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip?  I am a miracle whip girl, but the hubby is a mayonnaise man.  Yes, we have a jar of each  in the house.

#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup?  Spinach (I had to look it up though – lol)

#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in.  Lasagna:

Ingredients:

1 box (16 oz) lasagna noodles
1 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 eggs
2 lbs ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 jar (48 oz) seasoned tomato sauce

Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 25 minutes
Bake time: 1 hour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook lasagna noodles as package directs; drain and rinse.

Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet, cook sausage and onion till brown. Drain fat. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a large bowl, combine eggs, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and basil. Mix well.

Spread a layer of tomato sauce in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish; top with a layer of noodles. Cover noodles with a layer of the cheese mixture; top with some sausage mixture. Cover with a layer of sauce. Repeat layering with noodles, cheese mixture, sausage mixture, and sauce. Top with final layer of noodles and sauce.

Bake covered for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake about 15 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
