Calling all Phineas and Ferb Fans!

123719 0001 300x168 Calling all Phineas and Ferb Fans!My kids are huge fans of Phineas and Ferb. Heck, I’m a huge fan of Phineas and Ferb. For those who haven’t seen it, Pheneas and Ferb is the animated series that follows two stepbrothers as they set out to conquer boredom and make every day of their 104 day summer count.  They are accompanied by Perry the Platypus who has a double life as a secret agent.  Each episode Perry has his own plot line fighting Dr. Doofenschmirtz and saving the world.  Phineas and Ferb has been TV’s #1 animated show among tweens for the past three years.

Now, Phineas and Ferb will have their own movie!  Phineas and Ferb:  Across the 2nd Dimension is set to debut Friday, August 5 at 8:00 p, ET/PT on the Disney Channel and Saturday, August 13 at 10:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD.  Phineas and Ferb go on their biggest journey yet — into another dimension!

In getting ready for this awesome movie, we were able to check out some of the awesome Phineas and Ferb products:

My kids absolutely loved all of this!!!!  The soundtrack  was a huge hit on our car ride to Green Bay last weekend.  I also had no idea that they even made Phineas and Ferb Mac & Cheese (and it was yummy).

Some other Phineas and Ferb news:

  • Perry the Platy-bus in on a coast to coast journey from New York City to San Diego’s Comic-Con International (he was just there!) and the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim (August 19-21). Fans are invited to marvel at nearly 4,000 pounds of Perry (complete with bill, tail, and googly eyes), come aboard, play the exciting new Unity 3D online game “The Move Game: The Dimension of Doooom!” and video console games, sing Perry-oke, and more. Best of all, that’s all free!
  • The soundtrack “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions” will be available August 2nd through Walt Disney Records.
  • A video game inspired by the movie for the Wii and the Nintendo DS family of handheld systems will be coming out.
  • A special junior novel, joke, and novelty book, and an official 96 page magazine will also be coming out.
  • “Phineas and Ferb: We’re Making A Movie” interactive live entertainment experience at Disney’s California Adventure and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
  • Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour EVER! – a live touring stage show that will play in over 80 cities across the country
  • Phineas and Ferb action figures, apparel, accessories, grocery, and health and beauty products.

10 Free (Or Inexpensive) Things To Do This Summer

I already did a post on where to go this summer if you are trying to save money.  How about things you can do at home?  Here’s 10 Free (Or Inexpensive) Things To Do This Summer!

1.  Make a kite.  However, make sure you fly it in a safe area!

2.  Make a time capsule and bury it in your yard.

3.  Bake.  Make cookies, muffins, bread, etc. with your little ones.  My kids love to help me bake, and muffins, for me, is a great way to include them in the process and have breakfast for the week at the same time!

4.  Make puppets.  The easy way to do this is with socks, but my kids have even taken markers and just drew faces on their hands.  We also have a puppet theater, so they make up shows for us too!

5.  Movie Night/Afternoon.  You can pop some popcorn and throw in a movie at home.  If you want to watch something you don’t have, make sure you rent from your local RedBox.  You can get a movie for one night for $1 from them!

6.  Guitar Hero Marathon.  If you have Rock Band or Guitar Hero, spend an afternoon playing it.  It’s a fun game and can keep your kids occupied.  (I realize that this is only inexpensive as long as you own a Wii, Playstation, XBox, etc).

7.  Have a board game night/afternoon.  Spend a couple of hours playing board games and/or card games.  It’s a great way to squeeze in family time, and as long as you have the games, costs you nothing.

8.  The radio game.  This is something Bill and I play on road trips.  All you need is a radio and your brain.  The point of the game is to be the first person to guess who sings the song on the radio.  Once everybody gives up or somebody guesses correctly, you change the channel to the next station.  The best part is that if you aren’t sure who is singing something and have a smart phone, you can download apps that will tell you the singer of that song.

9.  Colored chalk.  This one does require a driveway, sidewalk, etc.  My kids can play with for hours with chalk.  They can draw pictures, write their name, and even draw a hopscotch board.

10. Create a garden.  You can get seeds fairly inexpensively.  Your kids will love watching you grow flowers, vegetables, etc (whatever you choose).  We created a butterfly garden at my house, and some days we just sit in the backyard and watch all the butterflies in the yard!
