I’ve got a secret

I have been wanting to post this since Monday.  No worries — I am not pregnant and nobody here needs a medical bracelet or anything like that.  Since my husband has had to work late the last two night, we haven’t had a chance to go do this yet.  Figured it out yet?  Well, I’ve blogged about it and asked everyone to tell my husband why we should get one of these.  No idea, yet?  Well, Bill decided (unless he changes his mind again which then I will have to kill him) that we are going to go put a deposit down on a Prius!  We test drove my sister’s car.  My only complaints have to do with things that I will just have to get use to.  As soon as we put our deposit down, then we go on a 4-6 month waiting list.  Unfortunately, we don’t get it right away, but it’ll allow us some time to save.  I really didn’t want two car payments at the same time, but what are you going to do?  The Jeep’s 20 miles per gallon is killing us when gas is so darn expensive.

Update on my weekend

Well, guess where I spent last evening? Five points to the person who guessed in the hospital. No worries — no baby. I tripped and fell yesterday on my stomach and had to go get checked out. While I was there, I started into my preterm labor contractions. They hooked me up to an IV and gave me drugs all night to stop them. I got to leave this morning with 2 prescriptions. One for antibiotics for an UTI that they think I have brewing and another for a pill to stop contractions. My body is killing me today. Ohhh, and I had another ultrasound. This time they said 50/50 on whether I am having a girl or a boy. The umbilical cord was in the way!!!

I have to call the doctor the first thing in the morning to see if they want me to come in. At least till I talk to the doctor tomorrow, I am on bed rest. I also am not allowed to drive. Of course, I have about 100 things to do this week, so this should be interesting.

Pet Food Problem

Responding to the massive recall of cat and dog food, the Senate voted Wednesday in favor of stricter production and labeling standards, so people have more information about what they are feeding their pets. The 94 to 0 vote was on an amendment by Sen. Dick Durbin to broaden the legislation related to the FDA. The amendment also calls for a pet version of the system that now tracks food contamination and outbreaks of illness and death in humans.

I don’t even have pets (well, I do if you count fish), and it is about time something got done. What worries me now is how much of this has gotten into the human food supply.
