So, last Thursday morning around 8, I flew into Las Vegas from Chicago for the BlogWorld Expo. Yeah, I had to leave Chicago at 6 AM, which meant being at the airport by 4 AM. Pretty rough, I know. Anyway, I managed to get my luggage pretty quickly once I arrived in Vegas. The airport surprised me because they had vending machines selling stuff like iPods and flowers. I've never seen that anywhere before. Oh, and I must mention I used the bathrooms at both airports, and the one at Midway was definitely better (no pun intended).
As soon as I landed, I caught a shuttle to my hotel. Luckily, the shuttle cost me only $6, and I had it all to myself, so we went straight to the hotel. Of course, I got there way before check-in time, so that I couldn't get into my room. But at least I could drop off my luggage there. It was a chilly 34 degrees when I left Chicago, while it was a nice 65 degrees in Vegas. So, that new leather coat I bought? Yeah, didn't really need it.
My main reason for being in town was the BlogWorld Expo, so I headed there. Registering was a breeze. While I was doing that, I bumped into Mr. Fab. The opening speaker was talking, but Mr. Fab found it quite boring, so he told me not to rush over. Instead, we chatted about work stuff until ten, when all the booths opened up for the trade show. I spent the morning checking out the booths with him. I even have a picture of us together, probably at the ligit booth (I need to find that sticker they gave me to confirm). This was one of the few companies that actually followed up after the trade show (I'll save that story for another time).
The place where the event was held looked really nice. They had some seriously knowledgeable people in commercial lighting and electrical supplies on hand. Weird thing to notice, right? But I live with an electrical engineer who always publicly points out stuff like that. Anyway, the place was impressive. The most surprising part was that the organizers expected around 10,000 people to show up, but it was clear there weren't that many attendees. I spent the morning hanging out with Mr. Fab and even bumped into Christine, Colleen, and her husband. After checking out some more booths, Mr. Fab and I decided it was time for lunch.
